Originally planned for Artist Point on Sat but heavy snowfall and avy changed it to following day at Skyline Ridge. All but two participants cancelled for a great day snowshoeing. Same elevation in less distance! Photo is looking towards Cowboy Mt at Stevens Ski Resort.
great little trip. easy to follow route w/maps along the trail until we veered off towards the top along Tronsen Meadow. We skinned up through an old burn which was easier due to most low branches missing, sat at the north side of windy knob for lunch and a great ski back down the open face and back through the burnt trees. started just after 9:00 and back at the trail head by 3:30.
Poor visibility. Snow and wind. Avalanche danger. Nice powder.
SkiPlain (www.skiplain.com) is a hidden gem for a very nice day of XC Skiing for all levels from beginner classic to the more advanced skate skiers.
Turned around due to weather.
Despite low visibility, the trip to Huntoon Point is always a treat. The best views are of the group members.
Great snow conditions in spite of the heavy snowfall of past weeks, but with only brief wintry views through the shifting clouds on our way to Point 6308.
Commonwealth Basic, very hard snow, boot walkable by some. Close destination. Very scenic.
Overall, a beautiful day spent with seven proficient paddlers on our ride through Hammersley Inlet around Hope Island and return.
Highly recommend this snowshoe trip on a day with good visibility.
This was a nice beginner snowshoe trip in a popular area on a good weather day. (Photo credit: Nan Peterson)
Fine hike up Margaret's Way (very well signed) showing minimal impact of recent storms. Most blowdown cleared so continued to Debbie's View, then Bullit fireplace, and looped back along Chybinski.
Despite a lousy weather forecast, we set out and had a wonderful time. We avoided the avalanche risk in Bullion Basin by taking the northern route.
This trip was a snowshoe trip to Kendall Peak Lakes but due to Avalanche concerns and a approaching storm, I choose to change it to a snowshoe trip on Rattlesnake mountain starting from the Snoqualmie Pt TH. We wore snowshoes from the start. Early going we were on a packed trail. Did take a road for a while to allow some trail breaking, but returned to the trail when the wind conditions got a little to much. The trail shortly after Stan's lookout was trackless, which allowed all to break some trail. Turned around after doing about 3 miles. Weather was windy and some new snow. Good snowshoeing today.
cancelled due to 1) not enough people registered, 2) weather.
This was a "plan B" destination from our original WS of Oakes peak.
A fun winter workout marred only by having to turn around within sight of the top (avy concerns).
