Successful hike on a mild day on snow-packed trail with very capable group.
Amazing bird-focused guided hike through the Union Bay Natural Area. Identified 30 species (not just birds)
Cancelled due to NWAC Special Avalanche Advisory: very dangerous avalanche conditions expected. Lone Tree basin is very likely avy terrain.
Trail closed between Grand Prospect and East Peak due to logging.
Fantastic beach hike with very pleasant surprises!
The field trip included visits to the wetland ponds and Promontory Point, looking for resident and migratory birds. The group saw three kinds of swallows, nesting Pied-billed Grebes, Yellow-rumped and Wilson's warblers, Red-winged blackbirds, a nesting Cooper's Hawk among many other species.
A variety of wintry route conditions (as well changing weather) made for an interesting, educational, and memorable trip.
Terrific early season climb - snow on ridge and in the air made it feel like mountaineering
Great birding spot with lots of variety!
Woody Trail to Lower, Middle, and Upper Wallace Falls/Falls trail. Road walk to Wallace Lake, returning via Greg Ball trail then crossover back to Woody Trail for final mile.
The trip went very well, all students were actively engaged in the paddle, etc.
Excellent snow conditions and good weather window along with a great group made this an enjoyable outing.
In spite of forecast conditions, pleasant day on Arrowhead.
What started out as a rainy morning, turned sunny and lovely at the Lake. Be sure to go early as the parking lot and trail become packed, for good reason. This hike remains one of my favorite every year.
Nice but uneventful hike from Samish Overlook to Lily Lake, North Butte, and Oyster Dome.
Black Canyon B3 Trip, mid-week, May 11-12, 2017
