Good tread, Goose Rock perimeter trail is less busy and great views. One section looks like it goes down to the beach...it doesn't so keep hiking and you will get to the last junction to go up on top for 360 degree views. Windy on top.
A touring trip in the Broken Islands with opportunities for trip planning, navigation, and safety opportunities throughout the trip.
After hours car shuttle from Windy Pass to Dru Bru.
Quick two day climb of an amazing icon of ours. Mount Shuksan always is a pleasure.
Appeared that everyone learned and had a good time.
Nice clear day, temps in low 70s. From Chuckanut Dr TH did a loop on Max's shortcut Trail, passing Lily Lake to Lizard Lake- nice lunch spot. Then visited Oyster Dome with views even better than Samish Overlook, and took the (newer) Oyster Dome Trail for return. No issues.
Beautiful flower-covered summits with amazing views
Rainier Emmons route from Camp Sherman was conducted in three days.
Beautiful alpine climb!
Unfortunately some participants were late do to an incident on I-5. Those that were on time were very patient while we waited for those caught in traffic. Once on the water everyone had a good time and learned a lot
No easy snow ramp to access the rock.
Great class to help beginners start with proper strokes. The forward stroke has subcomponents: turn torso, stab the fish, rotate with hand crossing face and lower hand/arm straight (set in concrete), lift at 90 degrees, finish rotation and set up for next stroke. I LOVE IT!
8-9 July - two day climb of Sherpa Peak from Esmeralda Basin TH.
Approach trail in great condition, easy to follow. Glacier route good, upper scramble portion of climb is chossy, but not too hard to follow.
This is a technically easy climb with lots of miles.
Successful 2-day, 4-person trip.
Silver Peak Scramble - Sat. July 8, 2016 We took a scramble route to this summit in bluebird weather, crossing the first couple of creeks about a quarter mile south on the PCT (just past the recovering clearcut area, just after the forest begins) then leaving the trail to the right/west in order to round the cliffs at the end of the peak's NW spur to their north; we then crossed the third creek and continued on rock fields, steep forest, and alongside a picturesque creek/waterfall up onto snow in Silver's upper north basin. From there we took a steep route up talus to gain the west ridge of the peak, rolled over to its south (Lake Annette-facing side) and followed the usual contouring waytrails up to the peak. We exited along the west drainage from the upper basin, were able to glissade one remaining snowfield, then found the hidden ridge trail that ultimately connects to a side trail through the clearcut to the end of one of the maze of logging roads, which led us back to the cars parked at Windy Pass on the FS road. The road is open and snow-free, but low and rough in the usual places. Street vehicles can reach the trail head if driven prudently in the rough spots.
