Hakai is a beautiful archipelago similar to the Broken Island Group but much larger. It also includes narrow channels that (winding there way over amazing distances and connect bodies of water) and inlets. We spent 17 days paddling 174nm Klemtu-Calvert Island-Shearwater-Bella Bella.
Great late fall weekday trip at higher tide cycle. Eagles, harbor seals, sea lions abundant and active. Weekday reduced the number of water foul hunters out.
Flow from falls was greatly reduced. Fallen leaves on steep rocky areas could provide a slip hazard if wet. Recommend going in October to see the leaves change color and April for increased waterfall flow.
Snow free ascent of Monitor Ridge route on Veterans Day
The group enjoyed two loops - the first through the mature forest on the west side of the park and a second one through the center of the wetland and up over Rhodie Hill.
The upstream trail has been closed for over a year (noted a week before trip) so we did the downstream trail instead. This downstream trail was repaired and is in god condition to the Pratt River. Beyond that point mud becomes an issue.
This was out our inaugural class, learned a lot and will repeat next year.
Lovely lake, easy hike with many large campsites around the lake, but such a long drive from the Seattle area.
This entire area is very beautiful and well worth visiting and both peaks are fun scrambles with stunning views.
A decent scramble, with excellent views. Could be led more often.
Perfect day for this trip on the first weekend after the end of permit quotas!
A gorgeous fall day in the open and expansive high country of the NE Olympic Mountains. Grand vistas in all directions.
Great hike with wonderful view just minutes from downtown Issaquah.

A pleasant hike and a short (cold) scramble on a clear day with great views at the summit. Enjoyed a phenomenal sunset with Mt. Rainier soaked in beautiful colors.
Great group and weather made this trip very enjoyable
All paddlers cooperated and performed outstandingly well to make sure we all were able to stay together in spite of adverse conditions and using vocal, hand and (for once!) radio communication. Photo credit: Terence Soh
