A fabulous day with a few inches of fresh snow and clear blue skies and good people.
Pleasant sunny cold day, several inches of new dry snow. Found a good route from the Saddle East of August down to Tolmie Creek. Lots of Devils club and other prickly vegetation, manageable due to the time of year.
Gorgeous views in all directions, with absence of snow turning this winter scramble into a very strenuous hike (~5000’ gain).
Beautiful winter hike through a lush green forest to awesome views!
Beautiful day for a hike. Clear sky for great views.
Gorgeous hike. Used microspikes, but no crampons or ice axes needed.
A short day for a short trip, followed route as described in 100 Peaks in Mount Rainier National Park.
Great November day in Olympics: Marmot Pass, Buckhorn Mountain and a No Name Bump South of the Pass.
Great day to hike in November, started chilly but warmed up some. Trail in good condition, saw few people and completed hike before rain began. Left no trace for the pesky jays at the top.
A full value intermediate climb, conditioner, and early season scouting trip, with a satisfying amount of hard snow, alpine ice, water ice, and thin ice over rock on the route, on a wonderful calm and sunny blue bird day during the capricious shoulder season.
Fun scramble up buckhorn in the wind, rain and fog.
A great conditioner with frosty views in the SW corner of Mt. Rainier National Park.
Trip completed as planned. Winds mostly calm. Overcast. Some currents. Rips not to dynamic. A great time practicing rescues, towing, and then paddling.
