Six Olympia and two Everett Scrambling successfully completed a snow scramble on a nice weather day.
Encountered snow at 3'400, consolidated and firm. Put on snowshoes around 4'500 for the final push up the ridge.
Nice day. Trail in good condition. Some wildflowers, 3 waterfalls still flowing. We first hiked to Dusty Lake, then back and around to the Ancient Lakes. About 6 miles
No bugs, plenty of parking available, no crowds, and a fantastic day to be on the trail!
The last two miles of this trip are not to be rushed! We admired some of the best scenery in the San Juans and the eagles as we threaded our way through the waves slapping the rocky shore at the base of the high cliffs topped and/or draped with pretty madrona trees and evergreens. Terry said, “What a great way to end a trip!” and I fully agreed. Photo credit: Will Wade
From the East Bank north trailhead there is severe blow down starting at 2 miles on the trail and at Noisy Creek camp.
A great ‘rainy day’ alternate on the eastern slopes of the Cascades, with sweeping vistas of Lake Kachess and Cle Ellum Lake.
Well marked trail with lots of rocks along the way. Some areas are very narrow and it is hard to keep social distance. Snow free. Very busy on the weekends. Arrive early to get a good parking spot. Bathroomat the trailhead was very clean.
A strong group of 5 had beautiful weather for a long day loop route up to Arthur using the Boundary Trail and the ridge out to Alki Crest for the ascent and the NE ridge for descent. With a mostly level traverse in the trees below Rust Ridge in between. Weather and views were fantastic and snow conditions were very stable.
It was a wet and cool hike but spirits were good! Per Gia we hike 7.2 miles and 1,882 elevation. Our average moving speed was 2.4. It was a 3 1/2 hour hike!

Great trail with good company. Some light rain and misty as we hiked up into the clouds. This helped reduce the crowds and we did get a peek at Bellingham Bay on the way down. Spotted a beautiful Trillium and a Wood Nymph!

Beautiful views, mostly flat short hike along the Snoqualmie River middle fork. Wildflowers, birds. Great hike. Then 5 minutes further down the road, hike up to Garfield Ledges. Steeper, but still very "doable". Panoramic views of the Middle Fork valley.
A committing but phenomenal ski circumnavigation around Forbidden Peak with a summit of Eldorado
Successful early season Prusik Peak climb
A fantastic hike along the coast with abundant wildlife and featuring petroglyphs of the Makah people. Surprisingly beautiful conditions made for an excellent weekend of backpacking and sunsets.
We were so fortunate to have summer like weather for a perfect three days at the Olympic Coast. Lots of roaming on the beaches and sitting in the sun at both South Sand Point, Cape Alava and points beyond all with a great group of participants. It could not have been better!
