Recent trip reports from work parties indicated a clear trail through about 3.5 miles. After that we were on our own to see how far we could make it prior to being stopped due to fallen trees. We actually made it to within about a half mile of Camp Jolly before turning around.
3 day winter intermediate climb of Stuart / Sherpa Glacier.
A gorgeous day in the sun with cloudless skies and incredible views, north to Baker, Shuksan; south to Glacier Peak, plus even Mount Stuart (if you have eagle eyes ;)!
This was a beautiful sunny day. We all enjoyed the full trails.
The field trip was moved from Rampart Ridge to Narada Falls, due to lack of snow. Most sunny days can guarantee a beautiful trip to Reflection Lake. The group enjoyed the panoramic views and route.
Five Olympia Jr. Mac Mountaineers along with 2 chaperones and a leader successfully completed a conditioning hike in preparation for a possible Mt. St. Helens attempt
Due the Gold Creek sno-park not being plowed -- we skied one of the alternate routes -- Silver Peak
Seven of us enjoyed a snowshoe to great views and lunch atop Kendall Knob on a beautiful, sunny day.
This was my first hike as a new mountaineer member. The leader was delightful, down to earth, and friendly. I liked her very much and got a very good feeling about the mountaineers because of this experience. I am looking forward to more.
3.25 mile out and back trip through the forest to Hyak Lake.
We had a nice paddle, we stayed close to the plan and were a little ahead of the time estimate.
Seven of us enjoyed breaking trail in wonderful powdery snow to Reflection Lakes and back. We had some snowfall after leaving the parking area at Narada Falls and enjoyed a relaxing lunch overlooking the frozen lake and Tatoosh Range peeking in and out of cloud cover.
We hiked a loop route in Fremont that included Gas Works Park , Woodland Park , and Fremont Peak Park. This hike included the Burke Gillman trail , 10 stairways , and views from Fremont Peak.
The weather was much better than anticipated, high clouds lots of sun and excellent firm snow condition made for a very nice overnight. My 5th trip to Foss and the first time I've been able to see the peak. Due to the forecast the crowds were pretty light. The overnight permits are now $6 and it helps to have all drivers and car license information handy when registering.
Weather forecast was iffy with freezing level about 400’-5000’ and probable rain. The day turned out great. Back to car at 2 pm and the only moisture was in the am which was more of a mist. Most participants cancelled so just three of us. We did an alternate to Reflection Lake from Paradise c
