Damp and chilly PNW day with few views but lots of flowers and great company!
Snow scramble in mid June from 4k ft to 5.1k ft. Outlier year: 2022.
Made the most of a dry day with views on the east side! Fun scrambling with such a positive/supportive group and the variety of terrain encountered kept us on our toes throughout (from blowdowns, to creek log crossing, to bare/rocky ground, to snow travel)!
Lots of sailing. Not much rafting up, but we enjoyed our lunch and some darn fine weather.
Marginal snow conditions near the summit led to a decision to turn around. It was a mostly cloudy day, but the clouds were high enough to allow for good views.
Hope Island low tide paddle on a day it was minus 4.7', the lowest in 13 years.
Way more snow than this same time last year. We had intermittent compact snow from .5 mile to the saddle. There was more walking on snow than on trail. Spoiler, we did not summit. First pitch will not melt out for a couple of weeks, if you attempt, bring pickets to protect first pitch.
Perfect evening for a hike. Flowers are blooming and the view was great.
A successful summit of Kangaroo Temple, although with a lot of snow. Snow is continuous from the road's edge to the base of the climb, and there's also a big snow slab on the final scramble portion near the summit.
Strong paddlers are important for this if there are any significant winds ( 8+ ). We encountered 12+ in early morn and it went up from there.
A summit, snow, hail, wind, sun and very little rain. We had it all.
Fun day tagging Yakima and taking a run at Naches.
A great precipitation lull, albeit with zero views. This NE Olympics rain shadow venue delivered the dry day goods.
Trail dry and bare up Easton Ridge, snow steady from Para Point to Thomas Mountain.
Beautiful wildflowers and 360 degree views on this hike.
