Beautiful day in the Tatoosh Range to explore Foss and Boundary Peaks
did davis peak north(the true summit of davis peak) instead of goat
One long day climb of an iconic aid climbing route in Index.
Trail in decent condition. A couple of blowdowns, one very large, presented some challenges. A couple of snowfields hanging on past Poodle Dog pass, Silver Lake still 80% ice covered.
Lightning Peak is what I'd describe as deceptively difficult. Rated 8 miles RT and S3/T3 with over half on trail. It was my first official scramble lead since completing my mentored trip and receiving the leader badge.
6 scramblers did the pleasant clockwise loop over Not Hinkhouse, enjoying good views even as it began to cloud up. Thunder started to rumble when we were at Long's Pass, but it never rained pn us.
A beautiful summers day to hike to some beautiful lakes. The waterfalls are beautiful too.
Welcome summer! Writing my hiker reminder group email the evening prior, "Don't forget to add your puffy and rain jacket to your pack tomorrow," I realize after clicking send I should have included sunscreen and hat as well. As we get ready and adjust our layers for summer, this report is about kicking off summer days with longer and higher hikes that include enough daylight for leisurely lunches at the top.
Challenging weather situation provided extra learning opportunities.
Wednesday evening summer solstice paddle on Budd Inlet, Olympia. Couldn't have asked for better conditions.
Straight up from Hwy 2. Beautiful views of Ragged Ridge when views are available.
Rock scramble up the west ridge offering 360 degree views of the North Cascades
770 CFS was a very technical level and lots of fun. Rocky Road Rapid was pretty straightforward. There is new wood at mile 3.9 that is a portage on river right.
A scenic one-night bikepacking trip in the beautiful Haney Meadows/Tronsen Ridge area. Chilly but mostly sunny and dry escape to the Eastside.
Adams Glacier is in low snow conditions. Route finding issues through ice fall and a large crevasse with no snow bridge turned our team back at about 10k ft.
Scenic and fun scramble in the NE corner of the Olympics. Originally booked as an Adams trip for students, the trip was rerouted to N. Petunia due to poor weather on Adams.
Beautiful climb on a Beautiful day with Beautiful new rappel anchors.
Successful climb of Sloan Peak via the Corkscrew Route.
