Great day with a lovely group on a classic climb!
Dodging ferry boats and Navy ships on a current assist paddle
Little Tahoma is a beautiful climb, in a spectacular location, offering a little of everything alpine as far as features throughout the route.
A fun day with some challenging conditions including wind and some strong currents provided lots of experience for students.
Due to wood and fast flow, we opted to put in at Glacier. At 1200 CFS it was fast and constant vigilance needed at blind corners. Would love to return at 1,000 CFS or less and run the canyon.
6/23/24 summit of North Face of Concord
Nice summer hike with friends on one of my old favorites!
A successful circumnavigation of one of the South Sound's gems.
Great weather on a quiet Friday climb. Snow bridge across the gully about to fail with holes opening in the snow throughout the route.
Olympia Branch Wednesday evening paddle from Boston Harbor to Big Fishtrap Cove.
Fantastic climb in clear conditions, bolted generously for the aspiring 5.9 sport leader.
The old road to the West Access trailhead is in very rough shape. Brush may scratch your car and you have to navigate steep deep ruts in the road. But if you brave the road it is a fun scramble with excellent views.
Of close-in, high-elevation local hikes, DHP is such a great way to avoid crowds. Be ready to cross streams when snow's melting.
Successful intro to leading trad trip
Went for the summit but had to stop a mile short. Ran into frozen snowdrifts and didn't have an ice axe to self-arrest.
Nothing like a rain shadow to make your day, and this NE Olympics version did not disappoint on this trip to North Petunia. Flowers, pristine lakes, sun warmed rocks (for sitting ;) and sweeping views made for a great time.
Very enjoyable river section. Continuous class II+ rapids in a beautiful setting. Watch out for wood
A great day circling the ridges above the Bean Creek Basin.
A serendipitously all-women strenuous snow scramble of Mount Ruth.
