Fun long ridge run with only mild scrambling to a peak with great views into the depths of the Pasayten,
Two good scrambles wrapped up in one beautiful day, with solid rock and obvious gulleys.
Beautifull approach, challenging gullies to an enjoyable 2 pitch climb
Interesting close to home scramble not often done. Be prepared to use the existing rope that's located near Dirty Harry's Peak. Shuttle needed.
A great one day basic glacier climb in a stunning setting, complete with ice calving on the nearby Willis Wall. A long (and strenuous) day, made a bit longer with the shorter days, yet compensated by our solitary time above Observation Rock.
Beautiful fall day out scrambling with the youth programs, Jr Mac and Explorers.
Late summer ascent of Breccia Peak via Lost Creek Ridge Trail
This trip was supposed to be a Diablo Lake weekend but current forest fires and bad air quality in both Ruby Hill and Baker Lake caused a switch to clear and easily accessible Blake Island. We may not have had mountain views but beautiful Blake Island never disappoints!
A Sea Kayak trip to the remote north side of the Brooks Peninsula on Vancouver island. We had 7 great days of paddling in rough weather and beautiful conditions.
Sometimes you get epic views, sometimes... you just get well.... nothing. Successful summits but completely fogged in today.
Chuckanut Bay, launching from Larrabee State Park Boat Launch.
Two stunning, very different hut to hut treks in a part of Iceland that few people visit - we saw only a handful of people the whole way! The Víknaslóðir: verdant with waterfalls, fjords and immense views (and Patagonia-level winds!); and the Lónsöræfi: deep chasms, side glaciers of the huge Vatnajokull icefield, and a monster-truck ride across a 20-mile-long vast estuary! Our guide took us off-trail for the best views, and some sections were very steep scree including fixed ropes.
A fortunate weather window on Friday the 13th for this aesthetically pleasing, and moderately strenuous ridge scramble to bag 3 peaks. 12.75 miles, 4,600' gain/loss in 9.5 hours.
Wonderfully fun four-peak adventure!
A less popular, but rewarding, trail off the Beckler River road in the Route 2 area.
9-14-2024 Huge fallen tree blocks access to the Big Quilcene Road trailhead more than a mile from the trailhead. No good parking near the blockage.
Beautiful approach to a fun easy climb with fantastic views of the Cascades
