The lakes on this urban Olympia trail are actually two fresh water marshes. It is an ideal area for bird watching and sighting small mammals and amphibians.
Day Hiking & Snowshoeing
Hike or snowshoe trip to a treeless peak with great views just off of Start Route 410 near the town of Greenwater.
Day Hiking
A moderate, 11 mile round trip day hike with 1,750 feet of elevation gain. The trail heads up through forests and into alpine meadows, with an optional side trip off-trail to Tatie Peak. Enjoy expansive views of the Pasayten Wilderness. At the pass, you can almost touch Azurite Peak and Ballard Peak. In the fall, larches should be at golden their peak!
Scrambling
A chanllenging technical rock scramble up extremely steep terrain. This seldom climbed peak is not for the faint of heart.
Day Hiking
Rich and unique diversity of wildflowers, shrubs, and trees in scenic oak and conifer woodlands, meadows, and rocky habitats at this convergence of several biogeographic regions. Highlights include balsamroot, beargrass, larkspur, penstemon, lupine, mariposa lily, Columbia kittentails. Plus great views of the Columbia River Gorge, Big Lava Bed, Mount Adams and Mount Hood.
Day Hiking & Trail Running
The Gray Wolf Trail is a moderate, 8.4 mile round trip day hike with 800 ft in elevation gain. The trail goes over a hill and through old-growth forest to the Grey Wolf River, following the river up to a narrow gorge.
Backpacking
Backpack a 46-mile scenic but strenuous loop with 17,000 feet of elevation gain in the northeast Olympics from Deer Park. We will cross Gray Wolf Pass, Hayden Pass, Lost Pass, Cameron Pass, Grand Pass and traverse the ridges south of Obstruction Point and between Obstruction Point and Deer Park. Weather permitting, swim in Cedar and Moose Lakes.
Backpacking
A week long trek through the heart of the Olympic Mountains. This is a 50+ mile loop backpack that passes through Gray Wolf River Valley, Gray Wolf Pass, Dose Meadows, Hayden Pass, Lost Pass, Cameron Pass, and Cameron Creek Valley.
Climbing
A rarely climbed and difficult alpine ice and mixed climb near Easy Pass, Grade IV, WI 2-3, 5.2. It is generally only climbable for two to three weeks after North Cascades Highway opens, Cold conditions, spindrift and icefall make this a route to be taken seriously.

A 412-acre state park located east of Olympia with nearly 1.5 miles of ocean shoreline on the Pacific Ocean.
Hike the varied trails of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to experience the beautiful mountains, forests, waterfalls, and biodiversity of plant and animal life. The trails can be accessed through the main park entrances in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and Cherokee, North Carolina, making it a great day hiking destination.
Climbing
Accessing the Green Glacier is 5 miles one way through moderately challenging terrain, gaining 4000 ft from the trailhead over trail, climbers trail, boulder fields, scree, and rolling slabs.
From this glacier one could access climbs on the north aspects of Little Sister (6,600ft) and Cinderella Peak (6,480ft), or various other sub peaks that make up the Sister's Divide.
Day Hiking
Green Lake in Mount Rainier National Park is a moderate, 10 mile in-and-out day hike with 1,300 ft in elevation gain. You now have to start at the entrance to the park because the Carbon River Road is decommissioned, so there is an added 6 miles of flat to the steeper 4 to-and-from the lake.

With water and green space, Green Lake is a much-loved and busy Seattle urban park. It is a natural preserve for hundreds of species of trees and plants, and numerous birds and waterfowl. The 2.8-mile path around the lake is great for walking, running, biking, inline and skating and walkers. The parks athletic field and other facilities are great for boating, picnics, volleyball, baseball, swimming and family activities. The lake covers 259 acres and has a mean depth of 13 feet.
Day Hiking
One of few hikes in the North Cascades with miles of switchbacks through meadows. Amble up these to the lookout on the summit, enjoying views of the Glacier Peak Wilderness. It's 8 miles round trip with 3,100 feet of elevation gain. Our groups often plan stewardship trips to maintain the lookout.
Day Hiking & Scrambling
A hike or scramble near North Bend off of the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River, depending on your destination. The scramble is 16 miles round trip with 4,000 feet of elevations gain. For a shorter hike, turnaround at Last Chance Promontory or Absolute Last Promontory.
Day Hiking
A moderate, 8.2 mile in-and-out day hike with 1,200 ft in elevation gain. The trail goes up the southeast spine of Green Mountain. Hike along meadows, marshlands, forests of the Spring Creek Valley to the top of Green Mountain where mighty Mount Adams and wonderful views await you. The sparkling blue-green waters of the Chain-of-Lakes reflect the glacier-covered north face of Mount Adams. You'll witness the black basalt that dominates the thin strand of lava bed along the Adams Creek valley.
Day Hiking & Trail Running
On the Kitsap Peninsula, this is a moderate, 5-9 mile loop day hike with 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The trail goes from the Gold Creek Trailhead through forests and meadows up to Green Mountain with views of Seattle and the Olympics.
Climbing
Officially named Eagle Rock, this is a popular training area for climbing, rappelling and climbing self-rescue. There are rock climbing routes from 5.5. to 5.9.

On the Kitsap Peninsula, this is a 9.0 mile day hike with 1,000 feet of elevation gain. This rocky trail goes from the Wildcat Trailhead through forests and meadows up to Green Mountain with views of Seattle and the Olympics.
