Day Hiking, Scrambling & Snowshoeing
In summer, it's a hike on trail to the west peak and in winter, a scramble or snowshoe to the the west and/or east peaks of Goat Mountain, northeast of Mount Baker. It's up to 11 miles round trip and 4,400 feet of elevation gain. This is a great hike for view fall colors.
Day Hiking
A moderate to strenuous hike of 11.0 miles round trip and an elevation gain of 3,400 ft 20 miles east of Chinook Pass near Bumping Lake. The trail steeply ascends to the top of 6,473 ft. Goat Peak, the site of a former fire-lookout with 360 degree views, thru forest and wildflower lined hillsides with amazing views all along the way. Dogs on leashes are allowed.
Day Hiking
A short, but fairly intense, hike that leads to an abandoned fire lookout site above Easton. It's 6 miles round trip with 2,200 feet of elevation gain.
Day Hiking
A 10 mile hike with 1,100 feet of elevation gain to a fire lookout on the west side of Mount Rainier National Park. The trail, mostly in Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, passes by Lake Christine and Goat Lake before ascending to the knobby summit in Mount Rainier National Park. Extend your trip by descending to Lake George.
Sea Kayaking
Located at the norther end of Canada's Vancouver Island, God's Pocket Marine Provincial Park offers open coastal kayaking conditions and excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Backpacking, Cross-country Skiing, Day Hiking & Snowshoeing
In winter, it's an easy to moderate snowshoe or ski tour through a wide, level valley in the shadow of Kendall Peak to the north and Rampart Ridge to the east near Snoqualmie Pass. In summer, enjoy a short walk around Gold Creek Pond, or a more adventurous journey up Gold Creek to as far as Alaska Lake.

Located in Ballard on Puget Sound, this popular park offers extraordinary views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The beach is also an excellent departure point for some easy kayaking in Shilshole Bay and destinations beyond.
Snowshoeing
An easy to moderate 5 mile snowshoe trip, gaining 1,000 feet via 4th Crossing and Skyline Trails. Enjoy great views of Mount Rainier, the Paradise Area and the Tatoosh Range.
Just off the Middle Fork road, a relatively easy approach leads to a multipitch crag with moderate sport and and trad routes.
Backpacking
This 24-mile classic loop backpack with 4,200 feet of gain affords immense vistas, beautiful lakes, and glorious larches in the fall! It can be done in three days but endless extensions and side trips beckon.
Night Sky & Urban Adventure
A unique state park and educational facility and dark sky park located on a 2,100-foot hilltop north of the Columbia River in eastern Washington. It is dedicated to year-round telescope viewing and scientific education.
Night Sky
A dedicated dark sky location for camping, and enjoying and learning about all that the night sky has to offer. It has all the qualities important to astronomers—clear skies, minimal levels of light pollution (it's a "2" on the Bortle scale), good seeing, no neighbors, and low horizons.
Sail with skippers Travis Nicholes aboard their Catalina 22 "Goldfinch" out of Foss Harbor Marina, Slip U8 on the Foss Waterway in Tacoma. Access via Gate 1 near the Marina store, the slip is on the shore end of G dock.

A 9 mile round trip hike to pristine, well-maintained backcountry hot springs 25 miles east of North Bend.

This trail ambles along salmon spawning Goldsborough Creek in Shelton. There are several areas to view manmade rapids where salmon can often be seen.
Climbing
Mount Goode via the Northeast Buttress is Grade III-IV, 5.4.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
A strenuous, 9-mile round trip day hike or backpack with 2,840 feet of elevation gain. The trail follows the Sauk River for a mile and then ascends steeply, going through forested, rough, rugged terrain and up a steep ridge. The payoff is a pristine alpine basin dotted with tarns, streams, lakes, and meadows all set in the shadows of Gothic Peak and Del Campo.
Photography & Urban Adventure
A ghost town in eastern Washington's Lincoln County with abandoned schoolhouse that is perfect for a photography outing. The little red schoolhouse was built in 1906, the year The Mountaineers was established. A 1927 fire gutted the town which was completely abandoned by 1942.
