Hike to pristine alpine flats with two lakes near Squamish, British Columbia and enjoy stunning views of Canada's Mount Garibaldi from the ridge of Round Mountain. This is a very popular area for hiking, backpacking, and cross-country skiing. Dogs aren't allowed on this trail. It's 12.5 miles round trip with 2,700 feet of elevation gain. From Elfin Lakes, consider hiking to Mamquam Lake.

Backpack or day hike in a British Columbia Rockies diverse, scenic, and rugged mountain park studded with the pristine Elk Lakes, several other lakes and tarns, glacier views, dramatic alpine limestone terrain of Upper Petain Basin, cascading Petain Waterfall, and coral fossils in the Coral Pass area. Wildlife viewing opportunities include moose, elk, bear and more. There are options for backcountry camping and Alpine Club of Canada hut stays.

Running for 28 miles along the Elkhorn Range at an average elevation of 7,200 feet, this scenic trail takes you past some of the tallest peaks of Oregon's Blue Mountains. As the trail rolls along repeatedly crossing the North Fork John Day Wilderness, enjoy dramatic views, varied geology, and wildflowers in July. And keep an eye out for elk and mountain goats.
Packrafting
After a century of inundation, the Elwha's canyons have finally come to life again after removal of two dams. Paddle up to 15 river miles of class II-IV whitewater to the Salish Sea.
Backpacking
Elwha River from Whiskey Bend is an easy, 23 mile round trip backpack with 1,900 ft in elevation gain. The trail follows the river up past the removed dams to the historic Remanns Cabin and back.

Day Hiking
The Elwha to Hurricane Hill hike is a very strenuous, 12.4 mi round trip hike with 5,300 ft in elevation gain. The trail ascends through forest and breaks out in the meadows on Hurricane Ridge with views of the Olympics and Mount Olympus.

Urban Adventure
Emerald Downs is the Northwest's premier Thoroughbred racing facility. Nestled in the Green River Valley in the shadow of majestic Mount Rainier, Emerald Downs is home to the Seattle-area's only professional equine athletes. The beauty and tradition of the Sport of Kings in the Seattle-area dates back to the early 1900s. Emerald Downs opened its doors June 20, 1996 and continues to feature live racing every April to September.

There are a few good treks from the Westside Road trailhead in Mount Rainier National Park. Visit Lake George and then the lookout on top of Gobblers Know, circle Emerald Ridge, or enjoy a stint on the Wonderland Trail to Klapatche Park, all strenuous or harder trips.

Hike along the East Fork Quinault River, one of Olympic National Park's grandest rivers, through a towering mossy rainforest to a deep green valley. It's an easy hike to Pony Bride that spans the river and a very strenuous day hike or easy backpack thru a cathedral-like forest to a meadow in a large alpine cirque surrounded by 3000-foot cliffs and the historic Enchanted Valley Chalet. From the chalet, head to Lake LaCrosse or Anderson Glacier.

Day Hiking
Starting at historic English Camp on San Juan Island, this easy 3.9 mile hike follows a shoreside trail on Bell Point before ascending 600 feet to reach the summit of Young Hill with an outstanding view of the island.
Backpacking
The trail system around the headwaters of the Entiat River and neighboring Entiat Mountains offer options for miles of wandering and wild, uncrowded camping among meadows, lakes and snowy peaks, framed in the fall by golden larch. Options for exploration include Entiat Meadows, Ice Lakes, Larch Lakes and Fifth of July Mountain.

Cross-country Skiing
Enjoy easy cross-country ski loop or out-and-back tours with minimal elevation gain. The trails start at the Crystal Springs Sno-Park and follow forest roads along the Yakima River.
Day Hiking
This is a moderate 7 mi hike with 1,750 ft elevation gain. The trail passes through a basin filled with flowers, then up a rocky slope to views of peaks in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Esmerelda Peaks and Hawkins Mountain at Fortune Creek Pass. Horses may be on the trail and dogs on leash are allowed.
