Day Hiking
A 17-mile loop in Capitol State Forest near Olympia. Capitol Peak is the second highest summit in the Black Hills and the views from the peak are fantastic. The trail is well kept with generally gradual grades and includes many bridges and typical Northwest scenery. The trail is open to hikers, bikes, horses and dogs.
Climbing
Perhaps the most challenging of the Colorado 14ers, with a classic knife-edge ridge below the summit
Day Hiking
This is one of the longest hike options in Capitol State Forest -- weaving through wooded valleys and along quietly flowing creeks, visitors here may discover not only natural wonders but also relics from the time that this area was the home of many a logging show.
Sea Kayaking
Launch from Captain Coupe’s Park and Boat Launch. Distance can vary depending on trip leader’s intent, generally approximately 8 nm round trip.
Explore Penn Cove, paddle out to Saratoga Passage to toward Camano Island, or northwards toward Deception Pass area or southwards toward Everett

Scramble to a summit off of Highway 2 near Scenic with views into the Wild Sky Wilderness and Henry M. Jackson Wilderness. It's 9.p0 miles round trip and 3,200 feet of elevation gain..
Backpacking, Bikepacking & Day Hiking
After repeated washouts, Mount Rainier National Park turned the Carbon River Road into a trail. This is a great opportunity to hike in low-elevation old growth forest. The hike to Ipsut Creek Camp is moderate at 10 miles round trip and 600 feet of elevation gain.
Naturalist, Trail Running, Urban Walking & Urban Adventure
A Seattle park that lies in the Piper's Creek watershed in the city's northwest corner. It has 220 acres of forest, meadows, wetlands, creeks, and a Puget Sound beach, accessible year round. The trail system offers 6 miles of trails. Many different species of native plants can be found within the park.
Day Hiking
Carlsbad Caverns National Park is renowned for its vast limestone cave chambers, including the immense Big Room. A network of developed and ranger-guided routes reveals intricate speleothems formed over millions of years. Seasonal bat flights add a distinctive natural spectacle to the park experience.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
Strenuous day hiking and backpacking trips of 8 to 16 round trip miles with 3,600 to 4,800 feet of elevation gain. The trail winds up the mountain through forests and meadows into a wildflower basin beneath the peak. The high country traverses northwest on sometimes sketchy trail to Leroy Creek where you can descend to Phelps Creek and loop back to the trailhead.
Scrambling
Scramble a scenic but rarely visited summit in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Snoqualmie Pass. At 17 miles round trip and 5,200 feet of elevation gain, despite only 3,000 feet of net elevation gain, it's long and challenging. Enjoy a route that takes you past four beautiful alpine lakes.
Sea Kayaking
Sea kayak on the inlet that extends northward between Key and Kitsap Peninsula close to Gig Harbor and near Purdy. In addition to varied shoreline, exploration opportunities include Cutts Island State Park, Minter Creek Fish Hatchery, and the tidelands of Burley Lagoon.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
A strenuous, 12 mile hike with up to 4,200 feet of elevation gain to Sahale Arm. Starting with views of Johannsburg Mountain, the trail climbs 3.7 miles to Cascade Pass (5,400 ft), a vista of flower meadows and more ice covered peaks before, continuing on to Sahale Arm. Consider visiting Doubtful Lake, a short side trip form Cascade Pass, or extending your trip to Horseshoe Basin.
Bikepacking & Day Hiking
A 22.5 mile, unpaved rail trail that connects Sedro Woolley and Concrete in the North Cascades. It follows the old Burlington Northern railroad grade parallel to Highway 20.
Sea Kayaking
Sea kayak the inlet between Key Peninsula on the east and Hartstine Island on the west in Puget Sound. Points of interest include McMicken Island State Park; Stretch, Reach and Herron Islands; Pirate and McLane Coves; and Jarrell Cove State Park. Case Inlet is the boundary between Pierce County and Mason County.
Day Hiking & Snowshoeing
A 2100-acre private preserve owned preserve owned by Hay Canyon Ranch, LLC and co-managed by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust. Though wilderness conservation is its highest priority, the preserve is also open to hiking, trail running, and snowshoeing on a 12 miles trail system with sweeping views of the Enchantments, the Entiats, the Wenatchee Valley and the Columbia River. There are many opportunities to view wildlife, and in the spring it is filled with classic Eastern Washington Balsamroot and Lupine.

Cashmere Mountain is a scramble of 17 miles with 5,500 feet of gain in the The Enchantments.
Scrambling
First Mother Mountain and Castle Peak, east of Mowich Lake, provides a lot of variety in scrambling terrain in only 5 miles and 2,400 feet of elevation gain. The steep boot track to Knapsack Pass leads past heather and tarns, and is followed by an extended rocky ridge run between First Mother Mountain (the first goal) and Castle Peak.
Backpacking
A strenuous lollipop hiking route that passes between the Cathedral Lakes and over Cathedral Pass, one of the most iconic areas of the Pasayten Wilderness and a scenic high point of the Boundary Trail that parallels the Washington-Canada border.
