Scrambling
Three Way Peak is located at the border of Mount Rainier National Park and the Crystal Mountain ski area. It is a challenging scramble. Though the route is largely on trail and footpath, the final ridge approach has modestly challenging rocky outcroppings and some exposure on the summit block.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
Thunder Creek is an easy backpack of 13 miles with 600 feet of elevation gain. The trail follows Thunder Creek through old-growth forests, passing many gravel bars on the way to the junction with McAllister Creek.

Thunder Creek/Fourth of July Pass is a strenuous, 10.5 mile round-trip day hike with 2,300 ft in elevation gain. The trail goes up Thunder Creek before cutting up steeply through forest to Fourth of July Pass.

An easy route, 3.8 miles, 650 ft. elevation gain. A small knoll above the SE end of Diablo Lake with nice views of the lake and surrounding summits.
Canyoning
A gorgeous intermediate canyon near Baker Lake. Late in the season, it is rated v3a4III, the only time moderate flows occur. It typically runs at a5 (advanced) through early August.

Day Hiking & Naturalist
Hike an easy, relatively flat 7 miles along the Tieton River that follows Highway 12 in the Oak Creek Wildlife Area. The trail includes a couple of scenic bridges which allow for different access points along the highway. As this gentle trail winds along the river enjoy views of dramatic rock formations as well as abundant spring wildflowers and striking fall colors.

Tieton has two main climbing areas: The Royal Columns and The Bend. Although there are a few bolted routes, it is primarily trad climbing.

Sea Kayaking
Sea kayak from Seaside to Cannon Beach, or visa versa along the Oregon coast. It's a challenging 10 nm open coastal paddle around Tillamook Head with a shuttle back to the launch.
Backcountry Skiing & Snowshoeing
For good backcountry skiing on the northeast flank of Mount Hood, visit the Tilly Jane Sno-Park or stay at the Tilly Jane A-Frame or Guard Station. With snow on the ground and winter conditions dominating nine months of the year, the peak season for use of the cabin is typically November through June. And access is via a 9-miles on gently sloping, unplowed road or the 2.7-mile Tilly Jane Ski Trail, both with 1,900 feet of elevation gain from the Tilly Jane Sno-Park. Lots of ski touring terrain is accessible right from the cabin door. In summer, access is short walk from the Tilly Jane Campground.

A strenuous 41-mile backpack with 8,600 feet of elevation gain that circumnavigates Mount Hood. Enjoy great views while hiking varied terrain around one of the Pacific Northwest's iconic volcanoes.
