Day Hiking
An easy day hike of 4.2 miles round trip with 850 feet of elevation gain. Hike down and then back up along the Sultan River from the Spada Lake Resevoir.

Hike through dark forest to flower-filled alpine meadows to Summerland and then on to Panhandle Gap on the Wonderland Trail in Mount Rainier National Park. Enjoy views of Goat Mountain, Fryingpan Glacier, Little Tahoma and Mount Rainier.

Canyoning
Summit Creek Canyon offers a diverse canyoning experience, with the Middle Summit Creek section providing a short but delightful adventure, starting at the former Summit Creek Campground and concluding just past Thunder Falls. For the more ambitious, the entire Summit Creek can be tackled in a lengthy day or split over two days to cover the Upper and Lower sections.

In winter, snowshoe or cross-country ski on this strenuous route to one of the few remaining fire lookouts in Washington. In summer, drive to near the lookout and hike the short trail to the lookout and continue out the Suntop Trail. Enjoy an unobstructed spectacular view of Mount Rainier and possibly sightings of the White River elk herd!

Backpacking
Hike to a lake in the southeast corner the Goat Rocks Wilderness from the South Fork Tieton Trailhead in Conrad Meadows. Surprise Lake is located 6.5 miles into a 15 mile lollipop loop below Gilbert Peak, the highest peak in the Goat Rocks. Extend the trip and see Conrad Basin's waterfalls and Conrad Creek. The area is popular for horses.

Snowshoeing
A moderate, 6 mile round trip snowshoe with 1,300 feet of elevation gain.
Day Hiking
Enjoy the unfolding scenery, spring wildflowers including hedgehog cactus, wildlife, geology and solitude while hiking trails and routes in the Sutton Mountain Wilderness Study Area. Sutton Mountain is composed of volcanic ash and pyroclastic flows of the John Day Formation that flowed from the Monument, Oregon area about 16 million years ago. The John Day Formation is the same formation which preserved fossils in the nearby Painted Hills unit of the John Fossil Beds National Monument. The hike to the top of Sutton Mountain is 7.6 miles round trip with 1,650 feet of elevation gain, and the Black Canyon hike is 5.0 miles round trip with 1,363 feet of elevation gain.
Day Hiking
Swale Canyon is a moderate, 11.4 mile round trip hike with 450 ft in elevation gain. The trail follows Swale Creek past basalt ledges, to smooth rock on the water that is good for swimming.
Canyoning
Don't let the name fool you! Swamp Creek is in fact a fun and scenic canyoning route, located in the North Cascades off of the Mt. Baker Highway. This Intermediate canyon has a little bit of everything, from rappels, jumps, a slide or two, and plenty of downclimbs through the unique geology in between. This route is best run starting in mid August, and typically runs v3 a3 III.
Day Hiking
Hike the trail in Swan Creek Park that is between Tacoma and Puyallup, just off the Puyallup River. The trail nestled in a stream cut canyon in an urban area, but it is wild and undeveloped. Look for eagles, salmon, little critters, and maybe an eagle's nest nearby.
