Day Hiking
An easy/moderate, 8 mile hike with 780 ft in elevation gain. This hike takes you through ghost forest left by the 2003 wildfire with views of Mt. Barney, Obstruction Peak and surrounding ridges. You arrive at the deep, dark lake that provides solitude.
Climbing
An accessible, moderate climb (Grade III, low 5th class rock, up to 30° snow) near Washington Pass. The approach is enjoyable and travels through Heather Pass and past Lewis Lake to camp at Wing Lake (6,900 ft). The rock can be loose in places but improves higher on the route. Times: 4-6 hr trailhead to camp, 4-7 hr camp to summit.
Climbing
A Grade II climb with class 4 rock and snow up to 30° to the summit of one of the higher non-volcanic peaks in Washington State. The approach passes multiple lakes where established camp sites can be found. The route has loose rock in many places therefore care must be taken to reduce the risk of party-inflicted rockfall. Times: 4-6 hr trailhead to camp, 4-7 hr camp to summit.
Packrafting
A Class I river just south of Olympia with thick riparian vegetation and important wildlife habitat
Backpacking, Day Hiking & Sea Kayaking
A beautiful 475-acre state park near Seattle reached by sea kayak, ferry or private boat. It has eight miles of hiking trails, and a four-mile loop trail around the island's waterfront offers spectacular views of the Seattle skyline, Mount Rainier, and the Olympic mountains. Black-tailed deer and bald eagles are commonly seen. Three beach campgrounds offer overnight accommodation. A nice outing when a sea kayak to the island and hike or backpack trip around the island are combined!
Day Hiking
A strenuous 7.5 mile hike with 3,300 feet of elevation gain—a 2,700 foot climb to ridge top, and 600 foot descent to the lake. Hike past Virgin Lake before arriving at the cobalt-blue Blanca Lake with a front-row view of Columbia Peak, the receding Columbia Glacier, and Kyes Peak.
Sailing

An easy, 4.5 mile hike with 1,100 feet of elevation gain a beautiful alpine lake. The trail starts in forest gradually ascending to clearings with mountain flowers and views of Liberty Bell, Whistler and Cutthroat Peaks.
Scrambling
The route travels through old growth timber transitioning to alpine vegetation, and on to open rock and snow slopes.
This is a unique summit providing views N to Liberty Bell, NE to Silver Star Mt., SE to Kangaroo Temple, S to Stiletto Pk., W to Corteo & Black Peaks, and NW to Cutthroat Pk. Blue Lake Peak is 1 mile east of Blue Lake and 0.7 mile south of South Early Winter Spire.

A beautiful and easy hike to a lake off of the Mountain Loop Highway. It's great for kids and families!
A 100-foot high-quality sandstone cliff, and the highest, in Larrabee State Park. Rock climbs are mostly 5.7 to 5.9 top rope, and the cliff can only be accessed at low tide.

Day Hiking, Naturalist & Urban Walking
If you just need some quiet time in nature and are not looking for a big workout, this little walk will be perfect. There is good access to the Snohomish River where you can find a place to throw a line in the water plus some good birding opportunities near the small lakes.
Backpacking
This moderate 23 mile route with 1,000 feet of elevation gain follows the Bogachiel River through stunning and seldom-visited rain forest to the Mink Lake-Little Divide junction before heading down to Sol Duc Hot Springs. Hike along one of the Olympics' great rainforest rivers cutting through a rain forest of ancient giant trees draped in moss and frequented by legions of elk, before ascending into a remote and wild valley.
Scrambling
Hike past Eagle Lakes and over Horsehead Pass to Boiling Lake in the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness. From there are a plethora of peaks to scramble including Mount Bigelow, Beefhide Butte, Seance Peak, Martin Peak, and Finney Peak. A typical trip is roughly 35 miles and 8,500 feet of elevation gain.
Climbing
Bonanza has the distinction of being the tallest non-volcanic peak in Washington. Martin Peak is located immediately east of the much more famous Bonanza Peak. Both routes are near Holden Village and are among the Bulger Top 100 Peak in Washington. These routes offer a classic alpine Cascade climbing experience at the intermediate level, testing the mettle of those who attempt them.
Climbing & Scrambling
The Chicken Out Ridge route is technical with sustained exposure, and it's 8 miles roundtrip with 5,300 feet of elevation gain. Borah Peak is the state highpoint of Idaho.
Sea Kayaking
This is a good place for a short or informal Puget Sound sea kayak journey, or the starting point for longer adventures. Boston Harbor is located near Olympia.
