Fantastic, but busy, hike to both a rock wall Falls (Bridle Veil) as well as an outstanding alpine lake with Mount Index looming over it and periodically depositing avalanches deposits with audible roars into the rock field just above the lake. Beautiful day with great group - perfect way to get ramped up for the Summer hiking season!
Fantastic views all around but unexpectedly high snow levels and warming temperatures stopped us short of planned goal
Approached via Winter route returned via Summer route. Warm day with soft snow, but most of the meadow either melted out or low snow
The Hertz Trail is an easy trail with views of Lake Whatcom and Waterfalls.
Turn around at about 5100' level due to hard snow and no crampons.
Trip cancelled due to closure of Deception Falls facilities for 2019
Hiked East to West. A few minor patches of snow on the trail and some mud, but the trail was in pretty good shape.
We began from the gravel parking lot, summited Rock Candy Mountain, and rather than coming right back down and doing an out-and-back hike, we took the Army Road to the Army Road Tie Trail to the Rock Candy Mountain Trail to loop back to the parking lot.
A fun early-season alpine climb near Washington Pass.
A great day for a paddle. Everyone had a great day.
Solid crew however the weather just wasn't cooperating.
Beautiful/strenuous loop of Emerald Ridge by way of the tumultuous stream bed/abandoned trail of Tahoma Creek.
