6 hours car-to-car; dust on crust and variable snow.
Perfect powder, 13 hours car-to-car. Thick bushwhack and a Cascade classic!
Our group braved a winter storm warning to look for the best access to scramble the NE ridge.
Better than forecasted weather. Lower trail some mud puddles, no trees over trail. With Rainer closed the parking lot filled up later in the day but most people on our way out.
A pretty tough 16-hour day with non-stop strong winds virtually all the way through, spindrift in the eyes, and an occasional apple- to grapefruit-sized cannonball to dodge. Practiced placing sketchy pro in rime ice and not-so-well consolidated snow. Miraculously managed not to get blown off the ridge, and finished up DKH V2 with a version of the Wy'East crux traverse that ended up being a tad more sketchy than it needed to be.
We hiked in Hamlin Park ,South Woods Park , and the Burke-Gilman Trail . Stairways to Cedar Park ,the Burke-Gilman Trail , and in Hamlin Park were included.
Perfect weather, gorgeous views, and a reasonably strong but small group made for a great day despite turning around at 5900 feet due to slow progress breaking trail through knee-deep snow.
I cancelled today's hike due to only one participant and me, but we did it as a private trip. It was a gorgeous day day up there!
A large loop hike visiting five of Tiger Mountain's summits: East, Middle, and West Tigers 1, 2, 3
Great day on Tiger Mountain - sunny at the trailhead, snowing on the summits of West Tiger 2 & 3. Starting hitting snow on the trail at around 1200 ft.
Fun exploration on a sunny day. Road conditions were a challenge past Darrington and the mileage of this route is clearly a lot more than indicated so we didn't reach Rat Trap Pass and the meadow area.
Great plan B Scrambles combo in Olympics: First Top and Point 4795.
Successful conditioning hike to the bench below the Haystack gully.
MUDDY! Damn muddy. No snow to speak of. Trail was open the whole way but did I mention it was muddy?
A great bad weather workout of ~5000’ gain over 12 miles (plus a short drive ;).
While overcast, no precipitation, nice route for beginners, enough good snow for snowshoes.
