A wonderful teen backpacking trip featuring iceberg paddling
One way hike to 5 or 6 named lakes.
A pristine, solitary and very challenging traverse of Mount Fricaba, Mount Deception, and Gray Wolf Ridge. This immersive trip should only be considered for extremely fit parties with great skills (route finding, northwest bushwackerry), and a sense of humor (for the darkest hours ;). Although we only consumed ‘3 days’, full disclosure requires an admission of a 3am arrival time back at the cars on the 4th day. In retrospect a 4 day trip would have been much more enjoyable (understatement of the year ;), with the last night at the last tarn visited.
Busy trailhead go early, be prepared for weather, bugs.
Fun Climb! The hardest part of the climb was getting to the first real pitch of climbing. Once you gain the ridge you'll need to climb on the top of the ridge and do some downclimbing to get to the notch. The second pitch offers the hardest route finding and rope drag, also a little loose. The rest of the climb is more solid. Descent can be done in one or two raps look skiers left after rap two for trail.
The Lakes/Skyline/Narada Falls loop hike reminded us that there is a good reason why this area is called Paradise. It was the most scenic hike I've done this year - stunning views, peak flower displays, beautiful lakes, impressive waterfalls - this hike had it all.
Evening scramble of Little Si/Meditation Rock
Great day out on a day with questionable weather :-) 4 out of 5 overall stars based upon the aggregate quality of the route, approach, views, climbing, partner, and stoke. Well 5 stars for my partner ;-)
A fantastic outing to scramble Lee Peak in the Spray Park area, a Peak that is named on USGS topo maps and has a USGS Marker, but about zero prominence. Given available time, we were also able to incorporate Echo and Observation Rock along the way.

An extraordinary adventure off the beaten path through immense and varied country!
Everything went so smoothly and so well the entire week. It didn’t have much choice with great weather and a very kind, considerate and experienced crew that worked very well together. It seemed like a dream within a dream and I already am looking forward to next year!! Photo credit: Terry Jaret
An intense 3-day climb through beautiful valleys and meadows, and also involving a fair bit of bushwhacking, routefinding and scree scrambling. An all-round stellar climb.
Successful hike to Norse Peak, via Bullion Basin, with Tacoma's Conditioning Hiking Series class.
Our party of 6 hiked up via upper Source Lake and followed the traditional route to Pineapple Pass. We skirted a potentially dangerous undercut snow remnant above the lake. There was a little moderate snow in Great Scott Basin. Ours was the first party on the route, surprisingly little traffic up there that day.
Basic Climb of the W Face of Guye via the Ober Strasse approach.
