A good spring conditioner hike on a hot and sunny day.
Great early season trip. Although many do this in 1 day, I recommend 2 days to thoroughly enjoy the amazing views.
A very enjoyable after work hike to a beautiful viewpoint.
Participating students completed climbs at Castle Rock and Icicle Buttress completing the graduation requirements for this course.
Sunny weekend with stable spring snow on route. Turned around after topping out Sherpa Glacier Couloir due to high winds on the ridge to the summit.
Successful climb of Cosho Peak via Kilting Creek / Messachie Pass approach.
An enjoyable ski on a less-traveled descent from Camp Muir.
Spectacular views all-around, perched on Guye Peak! Warm weather and ideal snow conditions contributed to an enjoyable mentored trip including students on their first snow scramble.
The climber's trail is in good condition nearly the whole way up, snow conditions were a bit punchy until ascending past 3300'. The summit block's snow cover is nearly gone, just below the summit block, although the moat is still crossable, it has large open pockets below the most climbable face of the snow. We did not feel comfortable attempting to reach true summit due to those gaps and the degraded snow conditions on the vertical face.

Great views, perfect weather, and a high snow line made for fast trail work on this solitary trip to North Slide (no other parties!). A great time to visit this area while the Sun Top trail remains sufficiently snow covered to impede wheeled traffic.
Great snow scramble on a hot day. Some steep snow fields near the top and lots of melting snow features to navigate.
Red Bridge to Blue Bridge, 8 river miles, gauge was in the range of 6.3-6.4 feet. Moving speed 3.6 mph. Great class II+ build up to real class III. Hot day 90 degrees.
Bridge View to Mine Creek Campground, 11 river miles, at 2700-2800 CFS. Moving speed 4 mph. Hot and sunny day, 90 degrees. A great place to be on a hot day.
Super fine 7+ nm EMSK paddle around mysterious Goat Island. Congrats to Michelle M. and Rebecca S. on competing their two required student paddles for the Mountaineers Basic Sea Kayaking badge!
Blue-bird day with temps in the 60’s and a solid team of Basic students made for a fun climb of the Castle. Stevens Canyon Road is clear of snow but not officially open yet. Be mindful of heavy traffic on the Castle on weekends as weather improves.
Yellowjacket Tower with great weather.
We enjoyed a beautiful day hiking in a beautiful forest.
