Powder several feet deep! Fluffy and untracked! Wow. Glad this destination has been added to the Mountaineers repertoire, just 1.5 hr from North Bend (where we consolidated vehicles).

Frigid temperatures for this short trip provided opportunity to test effectiveness of cold-weather apparel and preparations. Surprising number of other people at the Falls for such a cold day (+14º)
Today was a good break in the weather. Although there was packed snow on the gravel road from the shooting range, we were able to safely drive to the uppermost parking lot by the trailhead. The trail conditions were perfect and we donned our snowshoes at the parking lot. We traveled to the Hut, where we spent almost an hour enjoying lunch, taking photos, and visiting with newfound travelers. We all stayed together and traveled back to the vehicles for a debrief and a safe trip home.
5 hours up, 3 hours down, with 1/2 hour at the summit. Snowy road walk. Snowshoes on at 2200'.

This was a successful sailing trip with myself (skipper), Kat Hurd (2023 Tacoma Sailing Student), and Alison Pride (past sailing student & experienced crew). It was a cold and blustery weather day, but still a fun and educational trip.

From I-90 overpass, we proceeded to Sahalie Ski Lodge to start our trip into the Basin. To reach the constructed bridge over Commonwealth Creek, we crossed two tributaries with open, running water.
This is a two loop Go Walk tour of Green Lake , Cowen , and Ravenna Parks . The route included the Green Lake and Ravenna Neighborhoods .

A brisk and strenuous day made more so by a recent (day before) foot of light powder snow plus brilliant (and cold) blue skies. We renewed our ‘winter scramble chops’ with the snow covered brush and talus terrain on the ridges between Blowdown and Dixie.
