The route stretches from Scotland’s largest city (Glasgow) to its highest mountain (Ben Nevis) via its largest lake (Loch Lomond), connecting Scotland’s gentle Lowlands to its magnificent Highlands. The West Highland Way offers a visual feast of wetlands (moors), lakes (lochs), streams (allts), valleys (glens), and mountains (Munros) as it traverses regions – such Lennox, Breadalbane, and Lochaber – of great significance in Scottish history.

Trek hut to hut or dayhike from villages through the spectacular Bernese Alps under the snowy crags of the Jungfrau and the Eiger. Many long and short trails sample the best of this UNESCO heritage region, offering intense physical challenge rewarded by incredible mountain and valley views, picturesque Swiss villages, high huts and great food. Carry only a daypack.
Global Adventures
This outing combines the highest peaks on Earth, Himalayan culture, and mountaineering history. Trek up to the Khumbu region’s classic Mt. Everest viewpoint at Kala Patar and to Mt. Everest base camp. Then continue on to summit a peak and cross three very high passes to Makalu base camp. Stay in lodges up to Kala Patar, then supported tent camps. Porters haul your overnight gear, so you carry only a daypack.
Scrambling
A moderate scramble of 10 miles and 3,000 feet of elevation gain. This is an excellent alpine scramble above scenic alpine lakes and meadows with expansive views of the south central British Columbia coast range mountains in Canada.

The Trinity Alps are a designation wilderness area and mountain range in the far north of California, due west of Redding. It consists of stark granite peaks and high alpine lakes. Numerous trails and trailheads offer a multitude of recreation options including: hiking, backpacking, scambling and climbing.
Day Hiking, Scrambling & Snowshoeing
Tronsen Ridge runs north from Blewett Pass to the east of Route 97. It offers several options for winter scrambling when snow blocks many mountain access roads and the weather on the west slopes of the Cascades is unfavorable. The area offers a generally open understory, moderate slopes and good views.
An 5-8 mi round trip open ridge walk with 1,000 ft elevation gain.
Views to Mission Ridge, the Stuart Range, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker. An excellent wildflower walk with flowers appearing with snowmelt. Motorcycles allowed after mid-June.
Backpacking
Hike in British Columbia Canada's Wells Gray Provincial Park and enjoy extensive colorful subalpine and alpine wildflowers in Trophy Meadows that are among the most beautiful expansive wildflower displays in North America.
Scrambling
Scramble or winter scramble of Troublesome Mtn via the SE ridge; ~4,000' gain, ~5.5 miles RT. Option to add Double Toil (5,427'), adds about 1 mile and 750' gain. No maintained trails on this route.
Climbing
A rock climbing crag in eastern Oregon north of Smith Rock State Park. The climbing is physical, the rock is rough, and the approach is not bad. Climb vertical cracks in corners and stem-boxes on large basalt columns rated 5.10 to 5.12 with an increasing number of high quality 5.13s. There are also a handful of lower angle crack climbs on the north side of the crag rated 5.7 to 5.11.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
From near the end of Icicle Creek Road outside of Leavenworth, hike through the forest to Trout Lake. Continue higher to explore Windy Pass, ridges towards Cashmere Mountain, and the west edge of The Enchantments in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
Day Hiking
An easy day hike of 7.2 miles and 1,050 feet of elevation gain to a former mining camp and an optional 1.25-mile side trip to the wreckage of a World War II aircraft.
Backpacking
This 17.5 mile moderate backpack with 2,700 feet of elevation gain ascends flower-strewn meadows to ridges with expansive views across the Dungeness River gorge to the Olympic mountains range. Hike the Tubal Cain Mine Trail to Buckhorn Lake, Buckhorn Pass and Marmot Pass.
Urban Adventure & Urban Walking
Located near I-5 in Tukwila, just off the 405, this is a very pleasant city park with walking trails, a playground, river access, and more.
Sea Kayaking
A great place for sea kayak training and clinics.
A meeting location for events in conjunction with the Tulalip Tribes.
Day Hiking & Naturalist
These areas are best known for spectacular birding and wildlife viewing during Pacific flyway's largest fall and spring waterfowl migration stopovers in the Klamath Basin Wildlife Refuges in northern California and southern Oregon. One to two million geese, ducks, swans, owls, bald eagles, and a variety of mammals may be present during peak bird migrations.
Canyoning
An early season basic canyon.
The canyon offers numerous rappels and even a small jump. There are two two-tiered larger rappels that are memorable. The majority of anchors are natural anchors so canyoneers looking to enter Tule Creek for the first time of each year should bring ample webbing.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
Hike to lakes or a mountain just south of Bumping Lake in the William O. Douglas Wilderness. It's up to 15.1 miles round trip and 2,400 feet of elevation gain.
Scrambling
Tumtum Peak is a scramble of 6.0 miles with 2,300 feet of gain.
