At 117 acres, this is a large King County park in Maple Valley with lots of prime shoreline, preserved forestland, and meandering pathways. Running through the middle of the park is Jenkins Creek, a tributary for Big Soos Creek, which empties into the Green River. The park includes three wetlands, and a variety of birds and animals make their home here, including deer, beaver, raccoon, hawks, wrens, and ruffed grouse. It's also home to the Lake Wilderness Park Arboretum 40-acre shrubbery display.

From Lanham Lake turn a snowshoe trip into a moderate winter scramble by continuing on to Sam Hill, Jim Hill's little brother with excellent views of the middle Cascade peaks.
