A 40-acre park in Thurston County that features 1,000 feet of freshwater beach, hiking trails, athletic fields, and a developed swimming area on Black Lake. There are three covered shelters, each offering a large barbecue grill with three covered picnic tables providing seating for approximately 24-30 people. The lodge is a full-featured heated cabin with kitchen, meeting space, fireplace, covered porches, deck, tables and chairs to accommodate 49 people.

Rolling hills make for a moderate hike, snowshoe, or backcountry ski tour of approximately 6 miles with 1,300 feet of elevation gain. A scenic loop trail circles Sherman Peak in the Colville National Forest in the northeast corner of Washington. The loop part of the route to Snow Peak Cabin and the start of a longer journey south on the Kettle Crest Trail. From the starting point you can also head north on the Kettle Crest Trail.

A 10.9 mile very difficult loop on the Wilson River in the Tillamook State Forest with 3,850 feet elevation gain and steep trails summiting both Kings and Elk Mountains. This hike is a great spring conditioning trip with summit views from Mount Hood to the ocean, wildflowers, and great nearby swimming holes in the Wilson River. With two trailheads and other trails, shorter or longer, out-and-back or loop trips are possible.

A spectacular rail trail in south central Washington that starts in Lyle where the Klickitat River meets the Columbia River. It is a unique opportunity to hike, bike, or run ride along the most scenic section the Klickitat River and Swale Canyon. The trail is 31 miles one-way to the Centerville Highway. It can be done as a 62-mile round trip out-and-back or 43-mile loop trip.
