A fun, safe and successful climb of the Coleman-Deming route on a great PNW summer weekend.
The trails were in good shape. A few blow downs on the Mt. Baldy Trail, but easy to get around.
They came early but we had a good hour of navigation and bouldering.
The flowers were between blooms; the avalanche lilies were past and the paintbrush were just starting. We arrived at 9:30 to about 10 vehicles. We returned at 2:30 to twice as many vehicles. Trail was buggy but not as bad as I've seen it. The Lake Eleanor camp is closed due to hazardous trees.
Lovely and easy approach on the PCT and the views from the summit are awesome, but the climb itself was mediocre.
Long and steep climbing amid amazing beauty.
Whitehorse summit via east ledges. Rappel across moat.
The standard Mt Stuart Scramble route in three days.
This was a 3-day, 2 nights climb of West McMillan Spire. It was a very strenuous climb of 19.4 miles with 9300 feet of gain. We had a fun and interesting team of 6 “mature” and experienced climbers.
Fantastic approach and route conditions. This is as good as it can get.
An easy to moderate hike to Ashland and Beaver Plant Lakes off the mountain loop highway.
Beautiful hike up to Surprise Lake with CHS hikers on a sunny Sunday. Trail was snow free to the lake.
Scramble of 7-22-2018: Another excellent trip up the north basin loop scramble route to Silver, with a little snow in patches, a lot of boulder hopping, and some route-finding, forest and brush bashing, and summit basking.
A real grunt on the 1.5 mile section of STEEP switchbacks. Worth it with spectacular views from the easy High Ridge trail.
Successful 3 day climb of Mount Logan.
A number of downed trees block the lower portion of the trail but they can be crossed or bypassed fairly easily. An intermittent creek is still running in the meadows below the summit.
River crossings, glaciers, crazy-heather-bench-trail-thing, exposed bear-hug scramble move. A true alpine experience
