Early crisp a Fall Monday morning hike to the Ira Spring overlook with breathtaking views of Rainier and surrounding peaks.
Perfect weather for this trip. Some sun began to peak out late morning.
6.5 hours car-to-car. Snow on approach.
A private late season attempt to gain another Rainier 100 peak ended by early season snow and ice.
Clear skies made for spectacular views of the volcano, Spirit Lake, Mount Adams, and Mount Hood.
A Winter Wonderland trip in the Enchantments. Beautiful, but very cold.
What a beautiful place, but obviously heavily used.
A great scramble with shoulder season challenges on the ridge to the summit. With the recent snowfall this was akin to a winter scramble which involved breaking trail in snow that was not very consistent. The views however were outstanding with a mix of larches and snow and made for a great day on the mountains! Trip rating of 4 due to partially snow clad boulder fields on the approach and frequent postholing along the ridge.
Osceola Peak scramble / larch trip post winter storm.
A strong team, gorgeous day, and good route conditions made for a fun climb.
While we did not get up the summit block, we felt it was a successful winter scramble, camping in the basin and making it to the saddle with a brief attempt on the north side of Ingalls.
Great fall trip in the North Cascades, well worth the drive. We found ourselves kicking steps for the last few hundred feet and plunge stepping a little on the way down.
7 am weekday hike w/ 5 experienced hikers and dry weather.
Gorgeous day for climbing...sunny, not too hot and no bugs. We climbed at a easy pace and enjoyed the process. First ones on the route but a lot of people (from other routes) crowded the return to the bottom.
