A welcoming day for our Welcome to Hiking folks along the Skookum Flats Trail. Eight of us enjoyed this lovely old-growth forest and some ventured to view the falls up close.
This hike was to incorporate the watching of the Chum Salmon. It did not disappoint!
The primary goal of this trip was to view the Chum salmon run, and they didn't disappoint. Recent rainfall has allowed a good number of salmon to enter the creek and we were able to witness classic spawning behavior.
Accessible trail attracts all kinds of hikers, even those woefully unprepared.
We encountered thigh deep snow from the Earl Peak turn off on a beautiful blue bird day. Successfully made it to the basin and a little higher to a lunch spot with a view of the peaks; did not make it to Bean Peak.
wonderful walk though Seattle Arboretum on a warm and partly sunny fall day. Lots of colors still hanging in the trees. Nice tour as well though the Montlake neighborhood.
A not so wintery, winter scramble, but a perfect day to bag 5 peaks with no views! And 4 more Rainier 100's in the books!
370 CFS - low flow that is great for eddying practice and building skills/experience
Geocaching urban walk through Cheasty Greenway, residential areas and Jefferson Park.
On election day, I enjoyed hiking to Thompson Lake and Granite Lake in the snow, sleet, rain, and hail. Thompson Lake has 3-4 inches while Granite Lake is snow-free (but muddy) with 37 stream runoffs between the lakes and car. Bring poles!
Walk from Rainier Beach Playfield to Chief Sealth Trail and back.
Paddle from La Conner to Goat Island then on past Ika Island to Craft Island for lunch. Head north from Craft past the mouth of the North Fork of the Skagit River then west to the dike and back to La Conner via the fishway or portage.
A wet conditioning climb on the old trail. A few inches of snow on the top to make it all worthwhile.
We did trimming work along about a mile of RD 7545 -- removing new tree branch growth that was intruding into the ski trail
GoHike Alumni hike exploration of a new-ish route to Heybrook Lookout via Leovy trail, still some autumn color in the forest along with many mushrooms. Plus post-hike mushroom menu item.
Packraft from Codiga Park to he?apus Village Park
Enchantment fall hike to Lake Stuart. Aspens and Larches, snowy peaks and quiet lake.
Beautiful fall colors, walking through maples in the newly created Nason Ridge Community Forest, and at the peak, LOTS of larches, and of course, amazing views. Gentle, but steady climb up the side of Nason ridge to the top. Nason Ridge trail goes on to Stevens Pass.
