One of the quintessential traverses in Washington. This multi-day route offers seclusion and beautiful panoramas of jagged peaks and glaciers deep in the Olympics, along with views of Mount Olympus at almost every turn. Once you leave the High Divide Trail, you may find a faint boot path, but it often fades to nothing and you will find glacier and snow travel, scrambling, and hiking on scree and talus slopes. The route offers options for peak bagging, scrambling, and climbing.
Urban Walking & Urban Adventure
Enjoy easy to moderate day hikes on trails and country roads to Agate Pass, Blakeley Harbor Park, Bloedel Reserve, Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve, Fort Ward Park, Battle Point Park, Grand Forest, Fairy Dell Trail, the Japanese Exclusion Memorial, Rockaway Beach, South Beach and the Waterfront Trail.
Sea Kayaking
This 22nm sea kayaking trip around Bainbridge Island in Puget Sound must be carefully planned around current timings.
Day Hiking
Explore the natural preserves of Lummi Island, Baker Preserve and Otto Preserve. Both are managed by the Lummi Island Heritage Trust. Take the small island ferry as a foot passenger. Enjoy views of the San Juan Islands from the overlook in the Baker Preserve.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
Enjoy day hiking or backpacking trips of up to 28 miles with just little elevation gain. Hike along the eastern shore of Baker Lake, starting from the north or the south. Most of the trail goes through old growth forests with few views of the lake but with some great views of Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan.
Rustic Mount Baker Lodge is nestled in the spectacular North Cascades and is a beautiful, fun getaway three hours from Seattle. Located within walking distance of the Mt. Baker Ski Area and numerous summer and fall hiking trails, enjoy the mountains and valleys in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and surrounding wilderness.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
This easy-moderate 13 mile day hike with 650 feet of elevation gain offers groves of old-growth giants, an imposing glacier-fed river, turquoise pools and views to rugged summits including Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan. Combining two shorter trails that extend in different directions from the same trailhead, wanderers on this route will experience the best that the lowlands of Baker Lake and the Baker River have to offer.

Backpacking
This strenuous 27.3 mile loop with 5,700 feet of elevation gain traverses two spectacular ridges with views of Glacier Peak, includes a spectacular camp at Blue Lake, and provides easy access to a side trip through Dishpan Gap to Kodak Peak via the Pacific Crest Trail.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoe loop or out-and-back routes in Mount Spokane State Park from the Lower Selkirk Sno-Park. Most routes are easy, up to 6 miles and 700 feet of elevation gain, but there are options for those wanting a more challenging adventure.
Day Hiking
Day hike on rough trail to a series of meadows and the fabulous Cutthroat Lakes. An easy scramble to the top rewards you with big views along the scenic Mountain Loop Highway.
Scrambling
An early season snow scramble. Later season would be not far off trail and likely non-technical. One of the 100 scrambles in or near Mount Rainier National Park.
Day Hiking & Scrambling
In summer there's trail to the top of Baldy. Adding Tyler Peak will add some scrambling. Enjoy views of Mount Constance, Warrior Peak, the Dungeness Valley, Blue Mountain, Elk Mountain, Sequim Bay, Mount Angeles, and Mount Olympus.
Day Hiking
A good but steep trail leading out of the Yakima Canyon and up Baldy, providing a good chance to spot bighorn sheep with views of Mount Stuart, Mount Rainier, and Mount Adams.
Backpacking
Backpack in the beautiful Canadian Rockies' Banff National Park. Cross several high passes and hike by emerald lakes and glacier clad peaks. See amazing wildflowers or golden larches in season. This trip is most often done as a one way shuttle trip of 25 miles and 3-4 days.
Sea Kayaking
Banks Lake is part of the Coulee Corridor. The Grand Coulee is basalt cliff lined depression in North Central Washington. The lake is well known for excellent fishing and is a birders paradise in the spring and fall. Eagle Pass is a protected area just north of Steamboat Rock State Park that consists of rocky outcroppings of granite as big as islets or just rocks. Its a Sea Kayak II/III difficulty trip of 8 miles trip or longer.
Day Hiking & Trail Running
Enjoy easy hikes of 2-10 miles and minimal elevation gain through young forest with wildlife, moss, ferns, and mushrooms. The Banner Forest Heritage Park is a 645-acre, multi-use park with 29 miles of trails and options for hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and horse-riding. It is family-friendly and dog-friendly.
Scrambling
A long and challenging gem of a scramble of into a remote and rarely visited area. Located beyond the Canyon Lakes and Totem Pass in the Glacier Peak Wilderness, perfect solitude awaits. Enjoy fantastic views of Dome Peak, Sinister Peak, and Agnes Mountain. It's 32 miles round trip with 10,000+ feet of elevation gain.
Climbing
A climb on the eastern side of Mount Rainier National Park of 17 miles and 4,800 feet of elevation gain.
