Scrambling
Crater Mountain is a strenuous and technical scramble to a former lookout point, well worth the effort for the views of the North Cascades as well as the challenging rocky terrain. It can be done either as a long day trip or with a camp at a high lake. Try it with fall colors!

A bay known for some incredible kayak surfing on a sandy beach. Sea kayaking to the west or east can be scenic and challenging. A paddle to Freshwater Bay just west of Port Angeles is well known for rock gardening.

Day Hiking & Urban Walking
The trail is on the site of the North Pacific Railroad grade used by the Dinner Train that ran between Renton and Woodinville for many years. The rails and ties have been removed and the trail is now a compacted crushed gravel surface.
Backcountry Skiing & Cross-country Skiing
British Columbia has some of the best backcountry skiing in the world. There are lots of backcountry ski lodges, most are located about tree line, with amazing views. The Canadian Rockies are a young mountain range, with up-thrust sedimentary layers of rock and glaciers. Glacial flour (pulverized rock) suspends in water for the most beautiful turquoise lakes on earth. Winter provides cold dry powder snow, fantastic touring and backcountry skiing, and dark night skies!

Join us for winter break in spectacular Maine wilderness! XC ski or show-shoe between sporting camps with cozy bunkhouses; XC-ski, snowshoe, ice-skate, dog-sled or winter hike from your front door. Relax in the wood-fired sauna, read by the wood stove. See moose, deer, red fox or their signs in the snow. Gear is shuttled so you travel with only a day-pack. Families may apply.

A unique habitat of peat bog and special species that is accessible only by special permit with DNR.

A moderate, forest to meadow hike of 6 miles with 2,300 feet of elevation gain. On a clear day view Mount Rainier before entering a beautiful basin with wildflower meadows, and views of surrounding peaks and ridges. Usually snow free earlier than other similar elevation trails in the Mount Rainier area.

A strenuous hike past Henskin and Elizabeth Lakes to reach the summit of Crystal Mountain, the Summit House Restaurant, and the top of the Mount Rainier Gondola. Marvel at the wide open views of Mount Rainier before returning downhill on a decommissioned road.

Backcountry Skiing & Downhill Skiing & Snowboarding
Home to groomed resort skiing and access to some fantastic backcountry ski routes. In late winter and early spring the slopes are perfect training grounds for practicing ice axe arrest and other snow travel techniques.
Day Hiking & Scrambling
A strenuous, 8 mile round trip hike with 3,100 feet of elevation gain. The trail is steep, with lots of switchbacks, leading to an old lookout site with views of Mount Rainier. A scramble with Chinook Peak is also a good option.
Cross-country Skiing
Ski up to 10 miles on dog sled trails with modest elevation gain from the Crystal Springs Sno-Park. It is a winter wonderland of trails suitable for intermediate cross-country skiers.
Day Hiking
This is an easy four mile round trip loop hike with 1,200 ft of elevation gain. This forest hike on a well-maintained trail passes by waterfalls and rock-faces above the Cispus Learning Center.
Sea Kayaking
The Curtis Aquatic Center in University Place is a great place for kayak practice sessions. Pool is located at Curtis High School.
