This loop takes you along the Bridge Creek Valley, on the Pacific Crest Trail (4.4 miles of Section K) and Stiletto Spur Trail with great views of Frisco Mountain and Whistler Mountain. It is a strenuous day hike or moderate backpack of 12 miles and 2,200 feet of elevation gain.

Stirrup Lake

Day Hiking
Hike to Stirrup Lake from the Stirup Lake Trailhead or from Stampede Pass. From it's trailhead, it's 3.o miles round trip with 600 feet of elevation gain. From Stampede Pass, it's 10 miles round trip with 2,000 feet of elevation gain. Enjoy views of the surrounding peaks and the beautiful forest landscape along the route.

Storm King/Southwest Route

Climbing
One of Washington's 100 highest peaks and located in the North Cascades, its summit offers spectacular views of three neighbors: Buckner, Logan, and Goode. Most climbing traffic through the area is for Goode Mountain, which offers an aesthetic intermediate rock climb, the Northeast Buttress and a less aesthetic but popular technical route, the Southwest Route. The latter is commonly used to descend both routes on Goode, and it shares its route with Storm King below 7,400 ft.

A scramble with a gentle 5-mile ascent with 3,200 feet of elevation gain and no technical requirements. Located east of John Day, Oregon, it is the highest point of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness in the Blue Mountains, and is considered the most seismically hazardous mountain in eastern Oregon.

A very scenic open-faced intermediate canyon in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest north of Mt. St. Helens. It features several multipitch rappels up to 275 feet. Typically moderate to low flow, this route is best run in the spring while there is still snow melting on top of Strawberry Mountain.

A trail that traverses the ridge which is the boundary between Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Mount St. Helens National Monument. This is a great trail from which to observe the blast zone and some equipment that was destroyed in the blast. At the top of the lookout site you will be rewarded with a 360 degree view of the surrounding area.

A short hike of 1 mile and 180' gain to a staffed lookout and "breathtaking vantage point" overlooking Leavenworth and the eastern central Cascades. This can be done in combination with other hikes in the area for a longer day.
