Successful winter climb of Axis from Stuart Lake.
Great day teaching Basic Snowshoeing students .
This is an excellent loop hike to start the hiking season . We hiked , including views , in beautiful forest and wetlands . The trails are well maintained and we experienced minimal wet conditions .
Although a long commute (especially with the ferry ride), this gorgeous and strenuous venue near Lake Crescent gave us stunning views of the inner Olympics. Especially appreciated after the recent frozen rain weather antics in the lowland areas. (Lead photo by Jesse Bengtsson)
Well done and thanks Wild Bill for setting this up WHAT a great day

Nice trip to kendall peak lakes
Gust up to 38 mph? We decided to camp, but change our location to a more protected location. Great decision and a great trip
Exploratory Snowshoe Trip from the Swauk Campground Sno-Park
A stormy paddle downwind from Luhr Beach through Tacoma Narrows to Owen Beach.
Decent early season ski tour and beacon search practice
Beautiful day to be on the Ridge - Good thing we brought the mittens!
A great winter workout when difficult road conditions make other venues a challenge. Although really a hike, listed as a scramble for vetting future Winter Scramblers (and their gear) on steep terrain.
A stunning winter day with perfect snow conditions.
A great conditioner, yet difficult snow and road conditions resulted in our turning around at 4000’. The 5050 trail sign post (no sign present) was obscured by a leaning tree making it easy to miss.
It was fun doing this as a loop. Probably takes a little longer, but certainly more interesting.
A winter exploration of a seldom-visited South Puget Sound inlet.
We paddled from Luhr Beach to Johnson Pt and back. A cold day but the excellent visibility gave us amazing views of both the Olympics and the Cascades.
A fun paddle in moderate conditions with a fine lunch in Gig Harbor.
