Backcountry Skiing

Children will be fascinated as they stand directly beside the water and look up a 100-foot rock face to see the streams of water that make up the bridal veil pouring beside them. An old nearby mine, the Honeymoon Mine, brought the original nineteenth-century travelers to the Lake Serene area.

A 482-acre urban forest with 28 miles of flat trails and short loops of 1 to 3.5 miles that make for an easy and convenient outing. This popular urban forest between Bellevue and Kirkland is a respite from city life where hikers and equestrians can enjoy shady, meandering trails year-round. Dogs on leashes are allowed.

Sea Kayaking
Paddle through one of British Columbia Canada's largest marine parks that is home to dozens of undeveloped islands and islets near the north end of Vancouver Island. First Nation peoples have utilized this area for generations. Sea kayakers can easily find white midden beaches, culturally modified trees, clam terraces, an abundance of wildlife, and petroglyphs while exploring the park.
Day Hiking
A moderate, scenic hike in central Oregon's Cascades with appeal to hikers, naturalists, and photographers. It's hike of up to 8.4 miles round trip and 2,100 feet of elevation gain. Late June to early July is prime time for abundant wildflowers and many butterflies.
A campground 6 miles north of Shelton that is ideally located for hiking and other activities in the Skokomish Valley.

Scrambling
A scramble through varied terrain in the heart of the Snoqualmie Pass area, with 3,900 feet of elevation gain in a round trip of 9.5 miles. It has waterfalls, steep trail, heather and large talus with a challenging rock scramble at the end.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoe 11.5 miles and 2,600 feet of elevation gain to the lookout on the summit northeast of Loup Loup Pass on the eastern side of the North Cascades. Enjoy views into Canada, the Columbia Basin and the North Cascades. Look for interesting animal tracks along the way.
Backcountry Skiing & Snowshoeing
A great destination in the Methow Valley near Winthrop for snowshoers and backcountry skiers, offering views in all directions.
Day Hiking
Buck Mountain/Elbo Creek is a moderate, 6 mile in-and-out day hike with 2,000 ft in elevation gain. The trail switchbacks up through forest on a ridge next to Elbo Creek.
Scrambling
At 8,528 ft, Buck Mountain in the Glacier Peak Wilderness is the 49th highest peak on Bulger list. The Southwest Route, 20 miles and 6,000 feet elevation gain, takes you from the Little Giant Trail to Napeequa Valley and up Louis Creek.
Backpacking
Enjoy a taste of the Pasayten Wilderness. Hike along the Pasayten River and Buckskin Ridge, visiting several lakes, enjoying amazing vistas, seeing golden larches in the fall, and finding solitude.
Sea Kayaking
Next door to Eld Inlet, Budd Inlet offers sea kayaking opportunities to explore tidal estuaries in southern Puget Sound between Tacoma and Olympia.
