Hike along the railroad grade of the historic DuPont dynamite train on a trail with historic markers that highlight the activities of Native American and early settlers in the area. Then climb from the beach to Wilkes Observatory and DuPont Bluff with views of Puget Sound and the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. A visit to Edmond Marsh is a good addition to a trip here.
Urban Adventure & Urban Walking
Home to one of the largest lavender events in North America, enjoy a walking tour amongst the seven farms and the fantastic street fair in downtown Sequim.
Sea Kayaking
A great place to sea kayak when strong southerly winds in Puget Sound preclude other locations. It's also a good place to view winter waterfowl. Enjoy side trips into scenic Paradise Cove and The Lagoon.

Scrambling
A moderate winter scramble in weather-protected area near Blewett Pass. It's 7 miles round trip and 2,400 feet of elevation gain.
Day Hiking & Urban Walking
Hike 3 miles round trip with 500 feet elevation gain along Sesqualitchew Creek from Dupont City Hall to Puget Sound, passing through a tunnel enroute.
Backpacking, Day Hiking & Scrambling
A moderate to strenuous backpack of 26 miles with 4,000 feet of gain in the west side of the Olympics. If you don't have a few days, there's a 15-mile day hike option for very strong hikers. And scramblers can ascend Cat Peak and/or Mount Carrie.

A seldom climbed, Class 4 scramble up the third summit of the Black Buttes near Mount Baker in the North Cascades.

Day Hiking
The Olympic Peninsula is showcased in these two connecting trails. Wander through a forest of old growth trees, along a cascading river, by moss covered boulders and over a new suspension bridge. It's an easy hike from 3 to 7 miles and no more than 350 feet of elevation gain.

A easy two-mile hike in a little known Skagit County Park just north of Deception Pass. Enjoy fabulous views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the San Juan Islands, the Olympic mountains, and more from Sares Head or Duban Head. It can be extended but doing some of the other loops in the park.

This 8-mile loop hike on Shaw Island takes you along quiet country roads from the ferry dock to the Shaw Island Library and Historical Society Museum. From the library, the route continues to the county park on Indian Cove and then returns via a new trail in the Graham Preserve.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
In this area of the Goat Rocks Wilderness are 21-mile loop, 14-mile loop and9-mile out-and-back hike options all with about with ~2,000 feet of elevation gain. Hike up from Walupt Lake through verdant meadows, skirting the base of Nannie Peak where a side trail leads to the top of Nannie Peak. Continue on to reach Sheep Lake and the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Both loops follow the PCT for a shorter or longer loop return to Walupt Lake.

Backcountry Skiing & Climbing
Sherman Peak is a sub peak of Mount Baker with a high point elevation of 10,160 ft. The Squak Glacier is the most direct route, and has moderate slopes, with some steep sections.The route gains nearly 3,600 feet from camp to summit and a total of 6,800 feet. The Approach is popular with snowmobilers in early season. Times: 4-5 hr trail-head to camp, 5-7 hr Camp to summit.
Climbing
A moderate intermediate spring climb in the remote, alpine setting of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Expect snow and ice, and one short pitch of low Class 5.
