The holder of this badge has demonstrated proficiency in the following skills: 

Basic aid climbing techniques: 

  • Leading and following on a bolt ladder

Intermediate skills:

  • Traverse
  • Pendulum
  • Lower-out

Holders of this badge may have acquired additional optional skills such as the Tyrolean traverse. Learning such skills are not required to obtain this badge. 

WHAT DOES THIS BADGE ALLOW ME TO DO?

Following on aid climbing route with leader permission or leading on bolt-ladder aid route rated up to C1. 

HOW DO I GET THIS BADGE?

Complete a one-day introduction to aid climbing seminar.

Equivalency may be considered on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Aid & Big Wall subcommittee leader, through safe and proficient demonstration of all applicable skills.
