The Big 3: Planning For, Assessing, and Implementing Effective Instruction

This two-hour, hands-on workshop is open to any Mountaineers member or guest who is interested in improving their instruction! You will leave with materials, ideas, and plans which you can put to work in your own branch right away.

This session is offered as a repeat of a workshop presented for the first time at the 2018 Mountaineers Leadership Conference.  In this session, experienced teachers and volunteer instructors will work with participants to develop skills which they can put into practice while developing their next lecture, workshop, or field trip! The session will focus on the three main components of effective instruction: planning it, implementing it, and then evaluating how well it worked... or didn't (and what to do in that case!). Participants are asked to please bring a piece of curriculum that they have taught, will teach, or work on with other instructors; if participants don't have something to bring, Mountaineers-specific examples will be provided for all content areas (not just climbing-- the presenters promise!).

Volunteer instructors, lecturers, presenters, and teachers from all Mountaineers branches are welcome and encouraged to attend.
