CANCELED - North Olympic Coast Car Camp

Experience two popular and scenic North Olympics beaches, hiking Rialto Beach through Hole-in-the-Wall on Saturday and Second Beach on Sunday, and camping Saturday night at spacious Mora Campground.

Meet at 11:30 AM Saturday at the B Loop bulletin board in Mora Campground, reached from US 101 by turning right at SR 110 (before reaching Forks), turning right at Mora Road (SR 110 Spur) and then left into Mora Campground.  After securing campsites, paying the $20 per site camp fee (reduced to $10 for those with a Senior Pass), setting up camp and eating a picnic lunch, we will consolidate cars for the drive to the Rialto Beach trailhead parking lot, where no parking pass is required.   Then we will hike north on Rialto Beach, through the Hole-in-the-Wall to the next headland, our turnaround point.  returning by the same route.   Saturday evening we'll have a camp dinner, followed by smores around the campfire.

Sunday morning after a camp breakfast, we will pack up camp and regather at the B Loop bulletin board at 10 AM before driving to the Second Beach trailhead.  We will then hike in to Second Beach and then along the beach to its south end, where we will have our trail lunch.  Then we will hike to the north end of the beach to inspect the marine life there near low tide. After hiking out, we will have the option on the drive home for a meal stop at the Hungry Bear Cafe on US 101 in Beaver, WA.

Registration for this car camp is by registering for the two day hikes, Rialto Beach and Second Beach.  Leader permission is required to assure that everyone registering for one of the day hikes also registers for the other day hike and participates in the overnight encampment.
