12:30 to 2:30 PM. Come 15 to 20 minutes early to unload boats and change.

All participants must register on-line.

This is a practice session where individuals work on their own. All participants must be able to demonstrate the ability to wet exit. Lifeguards will be on duty, however The Mountaineers  will provide no instruction or direct supervision. Participants who do not have experience with wet exiting a kayak must contact SALLY ANDERSON in advance of registration.

When you arrive, you must check in with the pool monitor for the session (the primary leader).

Your boat and gear must be CLEAN prior to entering the pool.

  • A Qualified Youth Leader (QYL) must be present at the pool session for a youth to participate. Before registering a youth (under 18 years of age), the parent or designated adult must first contact the Pool Practice Chair, Sally Anderson (garywsallya@yahoo.com), to make sure that a QYL will be present during the requested pool session.
  • Pool Practice Sessions are only for learning and practicing kayak skills. Youth should only be in the pool while they are actively learning or working on kayak skills. General non-kayak pool play activities will not be permitted, including diving off diving boards or pool edges. It is up to the parents to determine if their youth is mature enough to benefit from participation in Pool Practice Sessions.
  • Parents are expected to be directly with their children 100% of the time, and responsible for keeping them safe from injury.
  • If the parents want to practice their own kayak skills, their children are required to get out of the pool and sit near where their parent is practicing.
  • If the family does not abide by these rules, they will be asked to leave without a refund.
