9:00 am ready to launch at Owen's Beach, Point Defiance Park, Tacoma.

We'll paddle into commencement bay, and cross to the mouth of Quartermaster Harbor.  Along the way we'll practice navigation skills.

This is the second half of the Trip Planning and Navigation Clinic.  Participants must have completed the classroom session before going on this paddle.  Participants must be this year's basic class students or already have the Basic Sea Kayak Badge.

Required Equipment

Regular sea kayak essentials for a day paddle.  We will provide a waterproof chart of the are for your use. 

Dry suit or wet suit and splash top required, as immersion is always possible.

Compass, (handheld, deck mounted, or preferably both).

Water resistant watch, preferably with a rotating bezel or timer.

Long billed cap (required to block vision at times).
