Outdoor Leadership Seminar - Tacoma - Mountaineers Tacoma Program Center

Outdoor Leadership Seminar is a one-day classroom-based seminar that explores the principles for great outdoor leadership, and dives into the nuances of critical decision-making and group management that arise on our trips. The seminar is highly interactive and based around scenarios and case studies. While geared toward current and future Mountaineers activity leaders, it is open to anyone who wants to build their leadership skills!

Tacoma clubhouse.  8am registration and breakfast.  Seminar begins at 8:30am.

This one-day leadership seminar is for both current and prospective leaders of Mountaineers trips and activities.  We will spend the day problem solving with scenarios based on actual trips - the good, the bad, and the ugly... The discussion is always thought provoking with the mix of everyone's own experiences, the scenarios, and the frameworks we present for thinking about leadership.  This event is not activity specific - kayakers, hikers, climbers, sailors, scramblers, dancers, bikers are all encouraged to attend.  We provide breakfast, lunch and refreshments throughout the day.  Participants completing the day's activities will receive the "Leadership" badge.  Registration for the day and a continental breakfast starts at 8 a.m.  The seminar begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.
