TIME:  6:30pm to 9:00pm

LOCATION:  Tacoma Mountaineers Program Center, 2302 N 30th St, Tacoma, WA 98403.  Second floor conference room.

Please arrive few minutes early to sign in and help with set up as needed.  The event will start right at 6:30pm.

COMMENT:  Sorry but this clinic will be cancelled if sign-up is 5 participants or less.

COVID:   Based upon recent changes to State COVID Guidance, all who participate will have to wear a mask the whole time including myself.  I also have a group participation activity at the very end that I will change to all observing myself doing the activity on one vaccination volunteer. (I am vaccinated.)  I will though ask a lot of questions while doing the activity to get all thinking of the "whys" of what I am doing.

LEADERS NOTES: This class is designed for those wanting basic trail first aid training, but unable to participate in Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Mountaineer Oriented First Aid (MOFA) classes.  I am a physician who has completed MOFA and WFA but because of the limited scope of this course, you will not obtain any special certification or badge.  It is also meets the minimum requirement  for first aid and emergency medical training to becoming a volunteer hike and backpacking leader although either MOFA or WFA are required eventually for Tacoma Branch leaders.

General topics covered include:   Prevention of illness and injury, Assessment and treatment of common illnesses or injuries, Recommendations concerning items  for a personal first aid kit.
