  • 7/24/14 & 7/31/14 - Summer Birds Identification, Parts 1 & 2 (registration limited to 12).  This is a two-part class, meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24 and Thursday, July 31.  Join us at the Tacoma Program Center for two evenings for a quick review of the over 200 bird species that are normally found in Washington State in the summer. This class is a great starting place for novice bird watchers. Topics will include tips on identification of summer birds in Washington State and the best places to find them. The required text is the National Geographic Society Field Guide to North American Birds, 6th Edition, available at most bookstores or online. This class meets over two evenings. David Kaynor, the instructor, has been an active birder in Washington State for over 25 years and has been sharing his insights on how to identify bird species South Puget Sound Community College and other locations.
