Second Year Participants: If you require a second year to complete the course requirements you must contact the Course Chair and Critical Skills Chair, by e-mail to request permission. The fee is $63. (plus $20 if you want a current student manual). Second year participants are required to attend the skills evaluation/Second Year Qualifier. After the evaluation a determination will be made on where in the lecture and field trip sequence you may re-enter the course. The course re-entry point is based on the knowledge and skills that have been acquired and ideally retained from the previous year. A conditioner, with a Tacoma Branch leader, must be successfully completed before participating on basic climbs or the crevasse rescue field trip if not previously satisfied.

- Lecture 5: Glacier Travel, Crevasse Rescue
- Final exam

- FT 1 Prep: Fundamentals, Knots, Prusiking
- FT 1: Fundamentals, Knots, Prusik Test, Belaying
- FT 2: Belay Test
- FT 3: Winter Overnight
- FT 4 Prep: Intro to Rock Climbing & Lecture
- FT 4: Rock I - Knots, Rock Climbing, Rappelling
- FT 5: Rock II - Rock Climbing, Rappelling
- FT 6 Prep: Crevasse Rescue
- FT 6 and 7: Crevasse Rescue and Hard Snow

Graduation Requirements
- Attend all lectures, field trip preps, and field trips
- Pass final examination
- Satisfactorily complete all field trips
- Satisfactorily complete two Conditioner hikes
- Satisfactorily complete three Basic Climbs, including one Rock and one Glacier climb
- Successfully complete the Navigation course
- Participate in one day's conservation activity/trail maintenance offered by the Mountaineers or another recognized organization or agency
- Hold a current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) card by the date of graduation
- Apply for graduation as described in the course manual
- Current Mountaineer membership
