Walking the Wild: Turkey's Carian Way & Lycian Way
- Wed, Jun 22, 2022 from 07:00 PM to 08:30 PM
- Walking the Wild Committee
- The Mountaineers
- iCal
Through the month of April 2022, a group of Mountaineers explored Turkey's unique mix of ancient history, glorious nature and extraordinary food and culture while walking 57 miles of the Carian Way along the Aegean coast, and 87 miles of the Lycian Way along the Mediterranean. Come with trip leader Cheryl Talbert as we explore neolithic cave paintings, climb around marble carvings and temples dating back to the 5th century BC, and wander among Lycian rock-cut tombs and sarcophagi scattered among the wildflowers - all the while being welcomed (and fed!) by local people in small villages along our routes. This presentation will take you on a photo journey along our route, and will share maps and trip information to help you plan a trip for yourself!
The presentation will begin promptly at 7:00 PM and end at 8:30 PM with time for Q&A at the end. The event will be held on zoom. An advance ticket will be required to receive the zoom link to join the presentation:
You can attend with a free ticket, but we hope that you will purchase a $10 or $20 ticket which will help The Mountaineers continue to deliver its volunteer-led hiking and backpacking programs, including events like this one! We hope you will join us!
