WALKING THE WILD: Walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain, with Sheridan and Richard Botts

In this fourth evening event of grand photos and storytelling from the wilds of the world, get a flavor of what it is like to be a pilgrim walking to Santiago de Campostela, Spain.

Since the ninth century, pilgrims have walked to this city. Sheridan and Richard Botts joined them in spring, 2016, walking nearly 250 miles.

In this fourth night of great storytelling from extraordinary adventures on foot in the wilds of the world, Sheridan will talk about the history of the Spanish Camino de Santiago, what to bring, where to stay along the way, and what to eat. She will also share pictures of the historical buildings, scenery, and flowers.

And, as a special treat, Richard (frequent chef at the Mountaineers Meany and Stevens Lodges!) will provide attendees with tasting samples of Spanish tortilla (potato, egg, onion, olive oil) as well as olives and cheese typical of the Camino. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be provided.

Bio: Sheridan grew up hiking in the Colorado Rockies, and met her husband Richard doing volunteer trail maintenance in Big Bend National Park. Sheridan and Richard are Cook and host at Stevens and Meany Lodges and Kitsap Cabin, and they have hosted two successful “Camino Weekend at Meany Lodge” events that included hikes, a slide show, displays, question and answer sessions, and a panel discussion.

A ticket will be required to attend the event which is open to Mountaineers members and the general public. Get your ticket in advance   and hold your spot for this great event! Limited seats may be available, cash only, at the door.
