CANCELED - Basic Snowshoeing Course Avalanche Awareness + Trip Planning

The course lecture is intended to explain key snowshoeing principles and concepts, gear and clothing choices, supplement the reading material, and provide specific information on upcoming field trips.

The  goal  of  this  course  is  to  teach  students  to  be  safe,  confident  snowshoers  and  to  enjoy  winter  fitness,  nature  and   adventure.   Topics of instruction will touch on all foundational elements of winter travel, including introductions to the selection, use, and care of proper equipment (shoes, poles, packs, etc.); clothing and boots; conditioning and nutrition; ten essentials and safety; snow conditions and avalanche awareness; winter travel tips and techniques; weather conditions; and choosing an outing.  We’ll have recommendations for where to go, what to rent, what to buy.  Questions are welcome!

There will be displays of gear in use by current snowshoe leaders/instructors, who will also field questions about gear choices.
