Join us for an opportunity to commemorate just how far we've come in protecting our public lands. Forty years ago, the Alpine Lake Wilderness Area didn't exist, and it wasn't until President Ford was moved by beautiful images of the region that national legislation was passed. This is just one of many stories that illuminate the process behind these landmark achievements. At this event, the leaders, who helped make it all possible, will be on hand to present many more.
These victories educate and inspire our conservation efforts moving forward. Last August, The Mountaineers and other outdoor leaders took Congressional staffers on a hike showcasing the recent expansion of the Alpine Lake Wilderness. We're so appreciative to those who laid the foundation for our work, and we hope you'll join us to celebrate their legacy!
