Carbon Footprint: Solar Photovoltaics- Power from the Sun

Lower your carbon footprint by spinning your electricity power meter backwards! Power your home (and even your cars) with photovoltaic (PV) panels.
12 ( 30 capacity)

Have you checked out the roof of The Mountaineers (see event photo)? It is loaded with 271 PV’s, and The Mountaineers no longer have virtually no electrical bill. You will not need anything close to that for your home. Panels can go on a roof or on a ground-mounted rack.

This non-commercial workshop explores the beauty of solar power, batteries not (needed to be) included. A federal tax credit and sales tax exemption make the price palatable. The grid (state electrical network) “stores” your excess power during the day and gives it back to you at night. There are no moving parts and the panels last 20-40 years. For those who have too much shade there is the possibility of a Community Solar installation.

RSVP required by date/time shown. A Zoom link for this event will be sent out by 7:00pm on June 1st to those on the roster. Check your email junk folder if you have not received a link to join the virtual meeting by the indicated time; it is not uncommon for large BCC'd messages to be directed to spam. If you do not make the cut-off time, let me know by email and I can add you in and send you the link.

Immediately prior to this webinar will be Introduction to the Climate Crises, where you can learn about the tipping point that compels us to act soon on the climate crises. The same Zoom webinar link will be used for both sessions.

In the wake of course and activity cancellations, support of The Mountaineers is more critical now than ever before. If you can, please consider donating $10 to The Mountaineers to support programs such as these.
