Youth activity: Mountaineers Adventure Club

Seattle MAC Photography Workshop - Keechelus Ridge Crag

MAC members get together to practice their climbing photography skills.

  • Crag Rock Climb
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 1.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 200 ft

We will meet at the basement at the program center for a 7:30am departure. Please arrive by 7:15 to ensure you have all the necessary equipment and we can leave on time.

EAP and Trip Sheet to come.

NOTE: Leader permission is currently required for this trip. Because of the nature of this clinic, participants must have their top rope, lead, anchor, and rappelling badges to join. In order to have enough time to teach the clinic, those skills must already be dialed in before attending this workshop. If there are questions/concerns regarding this please reach out to Emile to chat about it.

The day will be split into three parts:

1. Technical components for rigging ropes for climbing photography

2. Camera use and composition for on the wall climbing photography

3. Photo sessions for students to practice with their phones or cameras while others are climbing

Please bring lunch, water, and 10 essentials as well as all of your climbing gear. If you have tools that you use to ascend a rope (microtraxion, jumar, or other) please feel free to bring those as well.

We'll have a pre-trip meeting Tuesday, October 29th @ 7pm. A Zoom link will be posted here closer to time as well as emailed to all registered participants the day before.

Here is what we will be covering in the workshop (currently in a working state).

I would highly recommend having some type of phone securing strap if you plan to use your phone to take photos. I personally like the Koala harnesses as they don't obscure the cameras and are very easy to put on and remove regardless of what case you have.
